Skrillex Takes On Bluegrass Rock

Home Featured Skrillex Takes On Bluegrass Rock

Electric Forest Music and Arts Festival is likely a name unfamiliar to the most of us. And you can add the ‘String Cheese Incident’ to that category as well for many of us.

The bluegrass rock group had quite the surprise for the thousands of festival-goers during their 3-hour set. The surprise was Skrillex. Now while we are used to genre cross-overs, such as Usher and Martin Garrix, David Guetta and Emeli Sande, Steve Aoki and Linkin Park or even Kanye West and Daft Punk, the combination of Skrillex and bluegrass rock is a combination many thought they wouldn’t see at the concert.

Joining them to cover “Break On Through (to the Other Side)” and “L.A. Woman”, The Doors hit singles received a unique take, with Skrillex playing guitar and singing with the rock band. And while not the first time the two artists have combined, the awed expression you get from watching the video ceases to surrender. The DJ/Producer maestro proved his array and depth of talents extends far beyond just electronic music genres, with his high-tempo characteristic no where to be seen.

As the Colorado-based band String Cheese Incident (Keith Moseley, Michael Travis, Kyle Hollingsworth, Jason Hann, Michael Kang, Billy Nershi) play the next two days of the festival as well, it will be interesting to see who else they bring out on stage. And with Bassnectar set to close after the group on Sunday, it’s anyone’s guess!
