Flume debuts Tove Lo collaboration “Say It”

Flume, having just wrapped up his stellar set at Coachella, still managed to find time to debut his latest collaborative magic with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 yesterday.

Pairing up with Swedish soulstress, Tove Lo, the track titled “Say It” acts as the second official single from his highly anticipated album ‘Skin’ which is set to drop on 27th May. And while it sneakily appeared online hours before its radio premiere, it still doesn’t lose its emotive effect and feel

Acting as a slower, and more sexual side to Flume’s discography, Tove Lo provides an emotional mood with connotations of heartbreak and desire. And it seems the young Australian wasted no time connecting with the versatile vocalist. After hearing her chart-topping single “Habits” at a bar in Los Angeles following a Kanye West show, it was within 3 days the pair had created the masterpiece below.

Drawn synths, signature chords and anthemic in its bridge, Flume delivers one of his most complete collaborations to date. Relatively quiet in its rise at the start, Tove Lo’s lyrics are isolated in their eloquent form. But as the first beat hits, the track takes a new persona, infused with the distinctive producers synchronized chopping style. Explicit in lyrics and sound, the anthemic nature of the likes of Kanye West’ work have clearly influenced the chord selection, isntrumental selections and melodic sequences.

Easily one of our favourite Flume tracks, it also continues the ballad orientation of the album ‘Skins’ to date, with the instrumental layers also incorporating a future bass angle.

Check out the collaboration below and pre-order your copy of his second album today!
