Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser have been on a hiatus since the release of their latest album in 2013. Internationally renowned together as MGMT, this indie rock group has just teased their possible return, which is hinted to transpire in 2017. The duo tweeted, “Meant to say MGMT re-dominates your mind hole in *2017” after only posting the year they plan on dropping their upcoming album.
Following this announcement, the anticipation has certainly begun to build up in an accelerated rate. After initially reporting to come back in 2016, there is finally a confirmation that the wait time for MGMT’s return is finally diminishing as the year’s fourth quarter comes to a close.
