Calvin Harris & Alesso’s “Under Control” turns 3

Calvin Harris and Alesso are two of the industry’s biggest acts. Spanning the globe in their popularity, both can lay claim to reputed and impressive portfolio’s.

Coming together for the first time nearly three years ago to the day, Calvin Harris and Alesso provided something rather special for the dance music sphere. Recruiting the sumptuous vocals of Theo Hutchcraft from British duo Hurts, the track was one of balanced input. Distinctly sounding of 50% Calvin Harris with 50% Alesso within the instrumental layer, the fusion of their production character and sound is evident throughout.

Acting as the Scottish DJ/Producer’s fifth UK No.1 single, and Alesso’s first, “Under Control” brought in over 70,000 first-week sales. Going on achieve Gold and Platinum status in a number of countries, “Under Control” has currently amassed over 175 million views on YouTube alone. Going on to feature on their ‘Forever’ and ‘Motion’ albums respectively,  it was first featured by Alesso himself at Ushuaia, Ibiza.

Reflective of the booming presence of dance music at the time, it followed Alesso’s “City of Dreams” collaboration with Dirty South, and was the prequel to Calvin Harris’s smash hit “Summer“. Scintillating from the opening synth, the classy productions carry one of most adored melodies from both artists. Topped with one of the best vocal layers from the first half f the decade, it continues to carry its timeless effect and energizing atmosphere.
