Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have just unveiled their next release and it is probably not what you would have expected. In collaboration with Disney, the duo was tasked with recreating legendary composer Hans Zimmer’s Pirates of the Caribbean iconic theme song that has been used throughout the franchise. Their version is also called “He’s a Pirate” and serves as the sole bonus track on the soundtrack for the upcoming installation of the franchise set to be released on May 26th, Pirates of the Caribbean: Deadmen Tell No Tales. Vegas had a previous connection with Disney as he did the voiceover for Fred in the Belgian version of Big Hero 6, so executives thought it would be an interesting idea to have the duo take part in this.

The dance version of one of the most notable scores in film history is exactly what you would expect from one of the top electro house artists in the industry. The original melody leads into Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s signature synth-filled progression and although the full version has only been played in their live sets, we are certain that the drop will get any crowd hyped up.

The duo, however, is not the first major artist to put their spin on this iconic Zimmer score. Back in 2006, Tiësto along with several other artists were featured on a remix EP where the Dutch legend created a euphoric trance edition of the song in promotion for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Listen to a preview below and check back for the full version this weekend.
