Awakenings goes all-in with seven events in five days
Five wasn’t enough. Having upped the ante during last year’s Amsterdam Dance Event from four nights of techno to five, headliner Awakenings looks to raise the bar yet again. With their special 20-year anniversary weekend bash and annual festival in the rear-view mirror, Awakenings was looking for closure on their historical year.
They’ve found the answer to be a techno marathon, going seven nights strong through one of Amsterdam’s biggest music events of the year. The infamous Gashouder, serves to be the venue for all events again this year, located in Amsterdam’s historical Westergasfabriek gasworks complex.
Len Faki will be returning for opening night duties this year, presenting his label’s Figure Nacht. Expect the deep and dark sounds to reign supreme. Carrying forward towards the weekend, Adam Beyer brings in Drumcode’s energetic and driving records Thursday evening.
Paul Kalkbrenner kicks off the weekend on Friday afternoon with his Back To The Future mix series, representing the historical rise of techno. No stranger to Awakenings, Joris Voorn & Friends return to close out Friday. Legends like Paula Temple, Dimitri, and Danny Tenaglia will take over during the day on Saturday among a host of other acts.
Bringing attendees through the night again this year will be Joseph Capriati, inviting a fresh pallet of guests this year. And finally, putting a cap on the packed week, Klockworks, presenting his new concept PHOTON.
