Oliver Heldens kicked off the decks by NBA Players in Las Vegas
The path to becoming a world famous DJ like Oliver Heldens isn’t always an easy one, for sure. Playing in dodgy underground clubs in a shady part of town with only 20 people showing up, only because someone put them on the guestlist. Or worse: being bumped off the stage halfway into your set to make way for some unknown new kid on the block, who happens to be the club owner’s nephew… Oliver Heldens must have thought these days were far behind him by now, being the number 8 DJ in the world according to last year’s DJ Mag Top 100.
But nothing could be further form the truth, as the 22-year-old Dutch superstar DJ found out just recently. Heldens was performing at a Las Vegas pool party when NBA champions Golden State Warriors from Oakland (California) kicked him off the decks only 50 minutes into his set. According to Heldens, the #1 basketball team’s own traveling DJ took over the stage for some “mumble rap”.
Heldens kept quiet about it initially, but took to Twitter this week to get the matter of his chest. Ironically, Golden Sate Warriors star-player Kay Thompson was filmed dancing to Heldens’ and Tiësto’s banger ‘Wombass’ somewhere in a club on June 28th, triggering Heldens to make some ‘subtle’ comments about the matter. Check out his tweets below!
