Gabriel & Dresden announce album release date, drop new single ‘You’

When talented musicians who went into early retirement over a decade ago decide to return to the game, that news can only be met with sheer joy and lots of enthusiasm. One of the most iconic duo’s from the early days of trance music, Gabriel & Dresden, have broken their 11-year silence and will return to the forefront of dance music with a brand new album: “The Only Road”.  The American-based duo Josh Damon Gabriel & David Mitchel Dresden, who peaked in the early 2000’s, will present only their second studio album on Above & Beyond‘s Anjunabeats label on December 15.

Gabriel & Dresden came storming to the trance and progressive scene when they remixed Motorcycle’s smash hit “As The Rush Comes” ft. JES in 2003 and Above & Beyond’s “No One On Earth” ft. Zoë Johnston in 2004. Both tracks are amongst the best trance tracks of all time and helped Gabriel & Dresden to receive worldwide recognition and win Best American DJ’s’ awards in 2006 and 2007. A year later though, they parted ways to pursue solo careers, while struggling with the way the scene was changing. The love of their dedicated fanbase eventually brought them back together already in 2011 for a couple of tours, but it took a ‘few’ more years for the duo to get back into the studio together:

“Melody and emotion are making a comeback. This re-awakening inspired us after 11 years to make a new album. We wanted to get back to our roots and make something that celebrated our past while at the same time, giving us a chance to look to the future.”

Through crowdfunding platform Kickstarter fans helped Gabriel & Dresden raise over $73,000 for recording expenses. It led to a number of new hit singles already this Fall, such as “This Love Kills Me”, “White Walls” and “Waiting for Winter”, tracks that include vocals from Sub Teal and Jan Burton. The fourth single of the upcoming sophomore album is titled “You” (again with the vocal support of Jan Burton), a track that holds hints of pop, rock and progressive house, as synths and guitars blend in nicely with Jan Burton’s dark and deep voice.

As said, “The Only Road” will be released on December 15 and the four singles so far have proven that the entire album will be an absolute must-have for the Winter season. In the meantime, check out “You” ft. Jan Burton and the album trailer down below.
