It is now pretty much a fact that everything The Chainsmokers touch becomes a hit and is at the same time hot topic of conversation amongst fans and haters. By releasing a video to their new single Everybody Hates Me‘,  the Grammy Award-winning duo go back to their Future Bass roots and expresses their struggles of having to manage the constant criticisms from the industry and fans.

The video depicts their current darker state of mind and sets fire to the judgmental haters, in hope that managing the fame will get easier someday. Drew Taggart and Alex Pall are hoping to achieve that by hinting at a return to their more Future Bass sound, steering away from the more poppy records of the past year. While this record does steer away a bit from their past few releases, they didn’t change their winning formula (making them one of the top-selling artists in 2017), as the result is once again a catchy and captivating song that we will be hearing all summer long despite the mixed reactions from fans.

The American duo really believes in this track, proves the fact that they put on duty their good friend and talented photographer Rory Kramer (also the photographer of Justin Beiber) to shoot this new music video. The darker shades are contrasted by the pyrotechnics, lights and “feeling trapped” situations portrayed throughout the clip. The band is also joined by drummer Matt McGuire who sets his sticks on fire for the occasion.

This statement makes it pretty clear that The Chainsmokers will continue to shift their sound into new directions, while still going back to their roots once in a while, no matter what fans think. Artists have feelings too, and The Chainsmokers are not afraid to show the world how they really feel.

You can check out the full video below, or purchase/stream the track.
