When you hear the names Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso, you probably get a bit excited and think Swedish House Mafia. However, back in 2009, when the trio worked under their own names with Laidback Luke, a stand alone and truly special track was created. All those 9 years back, ‘Leave The World Behind‘ was born, and it soon became projected into the progressive house hall of fame.

Released on Axwell’s signature label Axtone on 1st April 2009, ‘Leave The World Behind‘ instantly gathered support from DJ’s around the world. Hitting festivals across the globe, the track soon became known for its smooth piano stabs and slick build up. Accompanied by the stunning vocals of Deborah Cox, the track’s acapella is still very widely used in sets, as it holds the position of one of the most memorable aspects of the track. The combination of each producers incredible skill, built up over years of experience, radiates through the entirety of this classic. Featured on Swedish House Mafia’s collaborative first album Until One, ‘Leave The World Behind‘ held a position firmly with the groups repertoire, featuring in their sets both individually and together. The most recent notable play of the track was at the famous Swedish House Mafia reunion at Ultra 20, where the Daddy’s Groove Magic Island Remix was supported.

As some tracks grow older they easily become forgotten or left behind if they don’t capture the attention of those listening to it, yet this track certainly hasn’t been abandoned. ‘Leave The World Behind‘ has continued to grow on music listeners over the past 9 years, and its hard to picture it ever fading away. The track has a firm position amongst the finest tracks ever released, and is an electronic masterpiece in its genre.

Listen to this classic track for yourself, and remember the amazing sound of 9 years ago:
