Sander van Doorn is back once again with a new track under his Purple Haze alter ego, which the Dutch DJ/producer revived so successfully last year. The track is titled ‘Bergen‘, inspired and written in the town of the same name, situated on the Dutch coastline. Van Doorn first started to produce tracks as Purple Haze back in 2005, when he dropped tracks like ‘Adrenaline’ and ‘Eden’, enabling him to experiment with a deeper and darker side of trance music. The project really gained momentum in 2009 and 2010, when he released the tracks ‘Bliksem’ and ‘Hymn 2.0’. Trance fans always really dug this slightly edgy and darker side of Sander van Doorn, so needleess to say the surprise Purple Haze revival during last years’ Ultra Music Festival in Miami was met with great joy.
Sander van Doorn premiered ‘Bergen’ in his set at ‘A State Of Trance #850’, where he opened his hour-long set with the new Purple Haze track. Reactions of the crowd were nothing short of spectacular, as the tune’s dark and tech-y melody delivers an amazing amount of energy. ‘Bergen’ starts off with a series of high-pitched vocals, before it explodes into a deeply euphoric melody and a powerful drop. The track once again perfectly combines a heavy, tech-trance bass rhythm with a feeling of euphoria, as did Purple Haze’s other recent releases, the amazing singles ‘Neiloj’ and ‘Contrast’, tracks that both became absolute crowd favorites.
Obviously, the new track is not included on Purple Haze’s masterpiece album ‘SPECTRVM’, which was released in the middle of last year’s Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). Instead, Sander van Doorn produced ‘Bergen’ especially for Armin van Buuren’s new ‘A State Of Trance 2018’ album, when the Dutch king of trance asked him to contribute to his new compilation album. The two have been long-lasting friends since their early days in music, with Armin van Buuren supporting new Purple Haze releases on many occasions in his ‘A State Of Trance’ radio shows.
‘Bergen’ will be released as part of Armin van Buuren’s ‘A State Of Trance 2018’ compilation album, which is set for release April 27th. The track itself has already been released this weekend on Armada Music’s sublabel Armind and you can check it out below.
