Chuck Roberts – In The Beginning (There Was Jack) [feat. Monique Bingham]
It’s time to back to the roots of house music with this new tune by Chuck Roberts, who decided to strip it back and rework the classic house anthem ‘In The Beginning (There Was Jack)’. Featuring the stunning vocals of Monique Bingham, this tune catapults us into the golden age of house music, with groovy rhythms and a new 2018 cut of the legendary sample “In the beginning, there was Jack…and Jack was the groove of all grooves…”. The man behind this iconic vocal is Chuck Roberts himself, with Terry Hunter on the warm piano keys and on production duties on creating this groove that will be hard to resist on the dancefloor.
What makes this tune so iconic, is the evocative and strong gospel elements which give that summertime feel while at the same time maintaining that old-school edge that still feels modern and fresh. Terry Hunter is not a new kid on the block anymore, in fact, he is best known as a founding member of ‘Chosen Few DJs’, a group of popular DJs from Chicago’s South Side founded in 1977, as he rose to fame in the 1990’s remixing artists such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, and many more. In more recent years, he also put his hands on tracks by Kanye West and also produced for Grammy-nominated artists.
Always promoting the house culture, especially in his beloved Detroit, Terry Hunter hopes that the jack-house movement will continue to spread and grow stronger, inspiring many through feelings of love and unity and those timeless house groves that have been connecting people on the dancefloors from all corners of the earth. ‘In The Beginning (There Was Jack)’ is now available on all streaming platforms through Ultra Music.
