Home Deadmau5 debuts Rob Swire collaboration at Spring Awakening Music Festival

After an amazing weekend for festivals state side, the attention grabber throughout the dance music world came at Spring Awakening in Chicago, Illinois. The festival saw names such as Afrojack, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Hardwell, Kaskade, Steve Aoki and Tiësto grace the Solstice stage for the weekend. However, it was on the second Equinox stage where Deadmau5 gave the audience a pleasant surprise, making the live debut a new work in collaboration with Rob Swire.

The two collaborators and friends go way back, working together on many things such as Deadmau5’s 2009 smash hit ‘Ghosts N Stuff‘, to making unforeseen cameos for each other like in Pendulum’s closing Ultra 2016 set where Joel made a guest appearance during the aforementioned tunes live version. With previous knowledge of the working history between the two and the lack of music released by Deadmau5, it’s great to see the tune making its rounds to crowds to fill the gap in recently released music. Joel even addressed his lack of musical output citing his time consumption on film score as the main focus for him.

After a twitch preview of the track by Joel himself just a couple months before this inevitable live debut, we found out a little more about the collaboration. The current working title of the track is ‘Monophobia‘ and after its test at Spring Awakening, the crowd seemed to give a resounding approval. As Joel looks to finish his scoring and push toward working on more Deadmau5 music hopefully more information about upcoming release dates for an album or collection of singles and other items possibly an upcoming tour will surface. Until then, stay tuned to We Rave You for more information.
