Coming off the production of one of the world’s hottest singles ‘One Kiss‘ Calvin Harris has been back in the studio, but this time surprising us all as to who he’s with. As the summers change from year to year, we see an ever changing style of Calvin as well. It appears that the heavy hitter experiments with major influences from a different primary genre ever summer. In fact, it was last summer that was all about funk for the Scotsman teaming up with artists such as Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams, Kehlani, Khalid and more over the collection of funkadelic productions that saw out the end of the summer months under the album entitled ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1‘.
Now circling back to this summer, it seems the 5th most streamed artist in the world is leaning more toward a summer of house. Listening to the simple yet catchy house groove that took place with Dua Lipa on ‘One Kiss‘, we have yet to truly grasp the larger picture of where Calvin’s head is at with his newer productions. Considering Harris normally debuts some massive albums, and tunes during the summer months, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the release of his ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol.2‘, and what an interesting release it would be considering his most recent company in the studio.
It wasn’t uploaded to Harris’s Instagram account, but the image in question was posted on fellow musician and future Calvin Harris collaborator Victoria Monet’s, account where the artist tagged both Calvin and Normani with the caption, “Last night was magical”. Now peering at that caption, it can only mean one of two things, either the friends met up for a late night hang that just happened to be in a studio or the three were tirelessly working on something absolutely dynamite. Either way, it’s the time of year where Calvin Harris typically comes up big, so now fans around the globe have something to be even more excited about.
