Few names in the history of dance music are more important to the genre as a whole than Paul Oakenfold. Upon a journey to Ibiza in the late 80’s and early 90’s, the British DJ decided to bring the taste of the Balearic Island back to UK shores with him, starting up weekly events in iconic Manchester venue, the Hacienda. With Paul responsible for the boom in the acid house culture and underground raves which later gave way to a more commercial sound, and the birth of EDM and various other genres, you could even attribute to the rise of the entire industry down to Mr. Oakenfold.

Now, the legendary producer has unveiled his stunning BBC Radio 1 essential mix, dropping tracks from the likes of Paul van Dyk, Timo Maas, and a flurry of his own productions. With Paul also asked to curate the soundtrack to popular Playstation game, Euro 2000, at the start of the 21st century, few names can rival the profound impact Oakenfold has inflicted on the dance community.
