While we are surely on track to relish his upcoming track titled ‘Repeat After Me‘ – a collaboration with superstar DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and fellow Dutch producers W&WArmin van Buuren is also celebrating his 42nd birthday today. The Dutchman who has been in the world of Dance music since the early 90s and has certainly assured his place in the list of all-time greats, shows no signs of stopping with his Armada Music imprint doing ever so well. On the occasion of his birthday, we wish him all the best for the coming years. In addition to that we chose to celebrate the occasion with a throwback to one of the first and finest ever BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes.

The second Essential Mix episode of February, 2003 saw Armin take his place behind the decks and dish out one of the most memorable Essential Mixes of the time. Such is the influence and impression of this episode that many call it one of his best ever sets. Featuring remixes from Lightscape, 93 Returning, Fade Sanctuary and another from Midway in the second half of the set, the mix also features the best of the best from labels as iconic as Above & Beyond‘s Anjunabeats, Armin’s Armind and ASOT, and UK imprints such as Tim Jeffery & John Reid‘s Loaded Records and Scott Bond & Solarstone‘s Made in England among other.

The aritsts on show are a sight to behold. Curating music inclusive of acts such asYahel, Scott Band, Solarstone, Ferry Corsten, Airwave, Matt Darey, The Thrillseeker’s Hydra and a few of his own, the mix really couldn’t go wrong. An essential among the Essential Mix catalog, Armin’s sumptuous set is a Trance delight and ensures a listening experience like no other. We suggest you give it no further thought and celebrate Armin’s birthday with one of his greatest ever offerings.
