For many, Tiësto will always be one of the biggest names in the electronic music scene. To maintain such fame, he consistently reinvents himself to follow the new trends of the market. His new track, in partnership with ZAXX and the singer Olivera, reaffirms this moldable character.
‘Affliction‘ is one of the tracks that makes up the album ‘Ninjawerks (Vol.1)‘. Created by the Fortnite player Ninja, the project started as a simple EP, which days after its announcement, became an album full of special appearances, with artists like Alesso, 3LAU, ARTY, Kaskade and many others. With the intention of being a soundtrack for those moments in which you are playing, the ‘Ninjawerks (Vol.1)’ fulfills its role well, especially when we speak in the case of some tracks in isolation like ‘Affliction’.
When first listening to Affliction, you’d never realise that it was a Tiësto track. The track soon begins a very powerful and engaging vocal by American singer Olivera, which is very reminiscent of the narrative of an anime, followed by a dreamy drop, rhythmically broken break, but with synthesizers that could have been used to create the track of any fantasy film (fans of the Virtual Self project will be quite indeterminate with the track). We can identify here very typical characteristics of ZAXX productions within the track through what he likes to call indie electronic combined with Tiësto’s unmistakeable talents.
