Diplo is mainly known for his versatility as a producer and his ability to produce chart-breaking tracks. He has created and been involved in some of the most successful and awarded electronic dance music projects like Major Lazer and Jack Ü. Last Sunday we kept on witnessing history in the making.

Diplo and Mark Ronson, better known as Silk City, collaborated with British singer Dua Lipa to win the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for their massive track Electricity, beating other amazing tracks such us ‘Losing It‘ by Fisher, ‘Ghost Voices‘ by Virtual Self, ‘Ultimatum‘ by Disclosure and ‘Common Ground‘ by trance legends Above & Beyond. This is the third Grammy award out of nine nominations for the 40-year old producer and his second Best Dance Recording after securing the 2016 award with Jack Ü’s ‘Where Are Ü Now‘, which also was awarded Best Dance Album of the Year.

This time, Diplo opened up on Instagram to express what is like to work with Dua Lipa and how they got to work together. When he first heard about her, it was years before her emergence. He was absolutely astonished by her talent and he was sure she’d become a superstar in the near future. Now, time proved him right as the young singer also reached individual success on this Grammy edition capturing the Best New Artist award.

Read his emotive words below:

I randomly dmed @dualipa 3 years ago on twitter after I heard be the one. she had only jumped out of nowhere, was just starting out, and had a really weird name to me. I had a song called “my love” for major lazer with wizkid and wale that we wanted her to be on.. she is a one of a kind of artist that can be on any genre any style. 2 years later she’s become one of the biggest pop stars in the world. when me and @iammarkronson were writing “electricity” we sent her a demo and she came over and helped us write and finish the record and she smashed it. she was the only voice we wanted on this song.. a deep / full voice and an excellent performer. after 6 months electricity has moved from a club song to a radio song to a genuine classic and every night I see it moving more people and grow even bigger. she got another award sunday for best new artist and it was very well deserved.. love you Dua for being around for me since day one.
