Axwell blows up the Freedom Stage with a brutal performance during Tomorrowland W2

The second day of Tomorrowland W2 started surprisingly wet. Coming from some of the hottest days in Belgian history, the classic rain came back to the fairytale city of Boom. Contrary to what it might be though, this did not decrease the hype and excitement of a day, in which Axtone, the label of the Swedish legend Axwell, took over the Freedom Stage at Tomorrowland.

After confirming that Swedish House Mafia would not play at Tomorrowland this year, a lot of disappointed attendees were left wanting to see them perform, which made this set extra special. Even after the heavy storm, no one seemed surprised to see the stage completely packed. People did not care about it as they came prepared ready to give their all and enjoy the array of bangers from the iconic producer. The only one shocked was Axwell himself, who admitted he did not expect many people to come down, and thought he would only see “like… 3 people here today”. In return, Axwell dropped an absolute mighty and dominating set to give it back to their fans that, even through the weather conditions, stayed for the whole 90 minutes showing him love, energy and gave him all their support.

From playing new music from Axtone roster artists like Shapov or Albin Myers to old-school songs like the Steve Angello remix for ‘Sweet Dreams‘. From Axwell classic ‘In My Mind‘ and SHM long-time famous tracks like ‘Miami 2 Ibiza‘ and ‘One‘ to more recent successes like ‘More Than You Know’ or ‘Dreamer‘. From new Axwell music to dropping unreleased  Axwell Λ Ingrosso and even Swedish House Mafia material. This set had it all! Once more, Axwell gave a true electronic dance music masterclass that left everyone in Tomorrowland wanting for more.

No one denies that SHM not performing in a venue like Tomorrowland was a slight let down for everyone, however by the size of this performance, attendants might be way more satisfied after witnessing a top-level set like this one. Hopefully, Tomorrowland will upload the full set on YouTube soon and everyone can see for themselves how amazing this performance was.
