Major Lazer – Can’t Take It From Me (Showtek Remix)

You will regularly find Dutch brothers Showtek – who go by the names of Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen – at the top of the charts. Crashing onto the scene like whirlwinds back in 2001, the brothers explored multiple different genres before truly finding the style that would eventually propel them forwards in ways that they had never seen before. Working with kings of EDM such as Tiësto (including co-producing an EP), Hardwell and David Guetta to name just a very few proves just how in demand they are, and the demand hasn’t halted in any way. In addition to banger after banger of original mixes, Showtek are also kings of remixes with names such as David Guetta, Alesso and Dirty South and Pop princess Carly Rae Jepson being given the remix treatment and now Major Lazer are being added to that list.

Having an established working relationship already, Sjoerd and Wouter and Major Lazer collaborated together on the huge track ‘Believer’ back in 2016 and now they’re putting their creative minds together once again in a different way. Major Lazer’s newest single ‘Cant Take It From Me’ takes their energetic vibe and transforms it into a feel-good, more laid back summery tune and Showtek built on that in their official remix.

Not taking away from the hypnotic vocals that Skip Marley, aka grandson of Bob Marley, expertly provided on the original version, the vocals are still extremely present whilst Showtek takes them into a new world. Although laid back vibes are still one of the focal points of the remixes, that fades away in the drop as they put their signature hyped up sound onto it, being careful not to overdo it and striking the perfect balance of fast-paced and energetic beats.

Overall, Showtek have managed to give ‘Can’t Take It From Me’ a whole new lease on life and prove once again why they are on top of the EDM food chain.
