The Chainsmokers are really on fire this year, releasing one chart topper after another, and now they bring us another huge collaboration ‘Takeaway’ with American DJ and producer Illenium and Canadian singer Lennon Stella. The duo debuted the track in March at Ultra Miami, where they brought Nicholas Miller – AKA Illenium – out on stage with them. It was definitely an unforgettable moment, which made the wait for the release even harder.
‘Takeaway’ is the fifth release of their upcoming, highly anticipated ‘World War Joy’ album. It reflects the signature style of both sides, featuring emotional vocals by Drew and Lennon. It is a very melodic, catchy track, that starts out very easy, with soft piano and guitar sounds, and slowly evolves into a future bass “drop” with Illenium’s signature synths. Overall the song isn’t as high in energy as you might expect it to be, however it is still very powerful in its own way, especially because of the heart breaking lyrics combined with the passion that can be felt between the singers.
The track is a nice addition to the energetic sets of The Chainsmokers and assures some sing-along moments for the crowd. It is already set to be the next hit and will definitely find its spot on your summer playlist. The official music video for the track has also been already released and it shows us how the group explores New York City. You can check the video out below and stream ‘Takeaway’ here.
