Home Uncategorized 1001tracklists Release Top 101 Producers List

The Top 101 producers in the world were unveiled today, and we can already hear the cries in unison – “it’s just a popularity contest” or “they just asked for votes so it doesn’t count”, well not so fast. This one is different. It’s the 1001 Tracklists Top 101 producers and this one is a little more logical than the rest.

Firstly, for those not familiar, 1001 Tracklists is the go-to website for identifying tracks played in live DJ sets. Heard a banger in a club or festival set recently? Chances are that if it isn’t an unreleased “ID” then 1001 Tracklists will have your answer. And that’s the key to why their Top 101 producers list is more than just a matter of getting the most votes. The list is derived from which producers got the most track plays in sets over the previous year, and with 1001 Tracklists featuring a massive wealth of sets, from mainstream to underground, festivals to radio shows, club sets to live-streams, it’s a fairly balanced list.

Not surprisingly, the big-boys take the top spots, with David Guetta hitting the number one spot, a jump of 16 places from last year, presumably thanks to a number of remixes and collabs with high-profile artists that proved to be mainstage hits over the summer. It’s unclear if his infectious Jack Back alias also counts for the position, but tracks under the moniker have also featured massively in house and tech house sets over the previous 12 months. Tiesto is a close second having jumped four places, Skrillex and Axwell both drop one place to third and fourth respectively, Don Diablo, last year’s top-hitter is fifth, Armin re-enters the top 10 in sixth, Ingrosso and Diplo stay in seventh and eighth, Camelphat drop five places to just stay inside the top 10 in ninth, while in tenth is Chris Lake who has jumped a full 15 places.

Elsewhere the popularity those who’ve made a massive mark on 2019 is plain to see, with names such as Chris Lorenzo, Tujamo, TV Noise, Carta, Purple Disco Machine, Yotto, ARTBAT, Cristoph, and Kolsch all making first time appearances in the chart thanks to releasing tracks that made their mark across the year so far.
