Halsey – Graveyard (Axwell Remix)

Axwell is one of the remix kings in the industry. His remixes for tracks such as ‘Resurrection’ by Michael Calfan, ‘Sweet Disposition’ by The Temper Trap (done in hand with Dirty South) and ‘In My Mind’ by Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl have become edm essentials. By now, it is an honour for any artist to have their very own Axwell remix of their track and now songstress Halsey is the next artist to get that treatment. Someone who is well known in the electronic music scene, artists like Arty, Illenium and Calvin Harris have previously remixed her works whilst she has been collaborating with The Chainsmokers so it seems suitable for Axwell to jump in on the action too.

This time, the more recent track ‘Graveyard’ – released the other month by Capitol Records – is getting the expert Axwell treatment. A track that allows Halsey to showcase her vocals beautifully, the original is quite mellow; that is until Axwell came along. Almost instantly the original is unrecognisable, and that’s the magic of his remixes: almost making it it’s own original track itself. Wasting no time into getting to the build-up, the house vibes are what introduces the remix from the get go. The vocals have been changed in pitch to fit with the type of underground house sounds being echoed out and it couldn’t work better. The drop is as great as you would imagine from the Swedish legend and has multiple layers to it that add greath depth to the overall feel of the remix. Once again Axwell has proved why he is at the top of his game, with no plans to change that any time soon.
