Techno is increasingly represented at Tomorrowland and this year’s lineup is proof of that. Let’s take a look at some of its powerful representatives distributed by day and stage.

One of Tomorrowland’s two thousand and one attractions is being a diverse festival. Diversified in the nationalities it brings together and diversified by having multiple musical genres well represented so that everyone can experience their favourite sound on the sacred grounds of Boom. One of the genres that have gained notoriety and a number of artists in the festival’s lineup is techno. During the three weekends that make up the 2022 edition of Tomorrowland the peak time beats, acid notes and frenetic pacing of techno will be on multiple stages, including the mainstage. We’ve put together a special selection below, much to the delight of techno-heads.

Enrico Sangiuliano

Friday 15 July, Weekend 1, KNTXT Stage (Atmosphere)

If you like to dive into the deep waters of techno, you’ve certainly been splashed by the sonic waves of Enrico Sangiuliano. In real life, the Italian artist forms a powerful duo with Charlotte de Witte and professionally he has an interesting discography. His name has been appearing more and more on billboards, always confirming itself as an important and rhythmic addition. If you are a fan of this engineer, producer and DJ, you will be able to see him on the first weekend, on the first day of the festival.

Techno queen Charlotte de Witte has a special and long relationship with Tomorrowland, playing at the festival since 2011. However, this time around, Charlotte has a very special mission. On the third weekend, her performance will mark the first time a techno act closes the mainstage and also the first time that this honour falls to a female artist. You certainly don’t want to miss this! If you are attending the previous weekends, you will also be able to see Charlotte on her KNTXT stage.

Not once, not twice but three times. Whichever weekend you attend Tomorrowland, you’re in for another powerful, fast-paced and explosive set from Reinier Zonneveld. The Dutch act is one of the few live artists performing at the festival, making it even more appealing and unmissable. His journey starts big on the Mainstage and ends in style on a stage curated by his imprint Filth on Acid.

Saturdays at Tomorrowland will be marked by the purest melodic techno. Italian duo Tale Of Us are regulars at the festival and known for soaking up the Atmosphere stage tent with an immersive sound and unparalleled audiovisual experience. This time also the mainstage will be blessed with the heartfelt and powerful selections of Tale Of Us.

Sunday 17 July, Weekend 1, Drumcode Stage (Atmosphere)

Sunday 31 July, Weekend 3, Budweiser Stage (Freedom)

The Drumcode boss is one of the most solid figures in modern techno and a renowned tastemaker. His keen ear for groundbreaking artists and tracks makes his parties and sets unmissable. Beyer’s strong beats will be heard on the first and third weekend of Tomorrowland, in two distinct sets for two unmatched experiences.

Marcel Dettmann

Sunday 17 July, Weekend 1, Ellum Stage (CORE)

Dettmann is a very strong figure in Berlin’s techno scene and also in the international sphere. The German artist is part of the squad at the mythical venue Berghain and author of sonic journeys full of raw and industrial sounds. In this edition of Tomorrowland Marcel Dettmann can be found at Core, inserted in the careful selection of Maceo Plex and his Ellum.

Paul Kalkbrenner

Sunday 17 July, Weekend 1, Budweiser Stage (Freedom)

Sunday 31 July, Weekend 3, Mainstage

The German artist whose name was immortalised by the soundtrack and film ‘Berlin Calling’ will have a double presence at Tomorrowland. With a path that he has forged in a particular and distinctive way, Paul is an avid representative of underground music. His sets can be considered live rather than ordinary DJ sets because he uses a number of elements to break down the tracks. His performances are conceptual moments that remain for posterity.

Friday 22 July, Weekend 2, EXHALE Stage (Atmosphere)

Newly married techno prodigy Amelie Lens has been spreading her acid charm around the world, debuting the first Ibiza residency of her EXHALE label this year. Crowned one of the most booked techno artists at festivals, Amelie Lens will bring the power of EXHALE to the Atmosphere tent, where she will offer more of her powerful performances herself on weekends two and three.

HI-LO

Sunday 31 July, Weekend 3, Filth on Acid Stage (Atmosphere)

Oliver Heldens’ techno moniker is one of those summoned by Reinier Zonneveld to the stage curated by his Filth on Acid. HI-LO has released several tracks with Zonneveld and on this imprint, making him an obvious and must-have choice for this occasion. His dynamic and explosive sets will challenge the ground stability of Tomorrowland’s hallowed grounds calling all techno lovers for a great time.
