NORD discusses working with Lil Yachty on his anticipated album ‘Let’s Start Here’: Interview
It’s a buzzing time of the year in the mainstream music scene, with industry titans releasing new albums and all competing for a spot on the Billboard charts. Ultimately, the listeners decide the musical trends that catch on with the public and the trends that get overlooked. A fresh new album from rapper Lil Yatchy just released in this final week of January 2023, with multiple notable artist features and project collaborators that helped bring the truly experimental vision the rapper portrayed with the project. Titled ‘Let’s Start Here’, the 14-track sonic collection delivers on a completely new listening experience consisting of a sound unlike the typical Hip-Hop and R&B style that most mainstream records have in common nowadays.
Carter Davis, professionally known as NORD is rapper and songwriter originally from Portland, Oregon. We Rave You had the gracious opportunity to talk to NORD about his personal review of the album and spoke on his behind the scenes involvement with the publishing and finalization of the project. “Working on ‘Let’s Start Here’ was a surreal experience for me as a musician because there were multiple record labels involved in the process”, Carter told We Rave You in a virtual interview. “This collaboration has marked an important milestone in my journey as an independent musician, especially because I grew up listening to Boat‘s music”. The Oregon rapper also gave us the exclusive details of his initial reaction when he got to hear the finalized version of the project. “It was truly like nothing I’ve ever heard before, and my reaction was similar to the other collaborators during the listening party”, NORD exclaimed. “It was a late night in the city and we had smiles on our faces from ear to ear, just all looking at each other. You know it’s a masterpiece of an album when it brings that unique room-stopping vibe to everyone there who contributed to the project in different aspects”.
Compared to the previous vibe that Yatchy delivered with his single ‘Poland’, which was released officially last year in 2022 after fans expressed their interest after the initial release on SoundCloud – well, there is no comparison. As a matter of fact, the single itself is nowhere to be found on the project and it’s publicly agreeable that this was the correct decision to be made. Listening to this track list in its entirety tells a new story that fans are positively receiving thus far into the album’s very short lifespan.
