deadmau5 hints at a possible drum and bass alias

Deadmau5 is no stranger to trying new things. Through the years, he has been all over the board with exploring the sounds of music, and as he teases his next endeavor, it looks like it might take him to the world of bass music.

Over the past three years, the industry has seen an exponential increase in the popularity of bass music, more specifically, drum and bass, especially in the United States. A larger number of drum and bass-specific shows are starting to pop up, the artists in the genre are becoming household names, festivals are starting to create stages and days curated around the, and legendary artists are starting to dip their toes into it as well, and the next one may be Deadmau5.

If you have paid attention to the electronic icon recently, then you know that he has shown affection toward the sound. During a recent live stream at home, he even threw in a extended drum and bass mix that many who were watching were excited to hear. And now, he is going as far as sharing a possible Deadmau5 drum and bass ID on social media and including the caption, “So do I need another alias for this shit?” Then his label, mau5trap, added in the comments, “Petition to drop some dnb,” which sent fans into a frenzy. It wasn’t until only a day later that Deadmau5 teased yet more experimentation in DnB with another video.

While it is fun to speculate, nothing substantial has been confirmed, but you can never rule out anything when it comes to Deadmau5. It would come as a welcomed approach as his stature would only help push the genre even farther into the spotlight. And you can guarantee that if he does decide to create a drum and bass alias, it will be of the highest quality with his own unique interpretation.

Hey everyone! I was blessed to have the opportunity to join the WRY team in 2020. I edit WRY's Youtube content and am also a writer for the website. I have been a massive fan in the EDM scene for over ten years and have been fortunate enough to see some iconic moments in person. Some of my favorite artists are Avicii, Martin Garrix, Krewella, The Chainsmokers, and Illenium. I absolutely love to attend live shows. I try to spend almost every week at some kind of live event or festival (if not in person, at least watching online). And its a guarantee you can always catch me at Ultra Miami every year! Thank you for all the support! Follow me on Twitter to see which show I will be at next! Hopefully I can see you at an event or festival soon! Inquiries can be sent to creighton@weraveyou.com
