Claude VonStroke drops Halloween-themed single ‘The Creeps’: Listen

Dirtybird Records boss Claude VonStroke ushers in the Halloween season with his latest house track, “The Creeps,” featuring Barry Drift. This spine-tingling release comes complete with remixes from Steve Darko and Mike Kerrigan, just in time for the Dirtybird Players Tour stop in San Francisco.

Embracing the sinister spirits of the season, “The Creeps” is a captivating blend of haunting melodies, shadowy rhythms, and the ghostly vocals of Barry Drift. This blood-curdling house hit tells a tale of horrifying hallucinations that will send shivers down your spine.

Claude VonStroke describes his inspiration for the track, “A good horror film is very difficult to make because it has to be scary enough to make your skin crawl but fun enough so you can enjoy grabbing your partner’s arm during a jump scare. I decided to go for it and make a track just for Halloween based on the concept that a guy takes drugs and cannot figure out if he is in reality or a horror film. It’s a precarious balance between cheesy and creepy, but that’s the entire fun of Halloween, isn’t it?”

Alongside “The Creeps,” VonStroke enlisted two rising stars from the Dirtybird flock to provide their own interpretations. Steve Darko infuses the track with tech-heavy funk, layering in slinky basslines and deep synth stabs. Mike Kerrigan takes a dark, club-focused approach, incorporating gritty textures and dissonant tones to capture the haunting essence of VonStroke‘s original.

Steve Darko, hailing from Boston, has made a name for himself in the underground house scene, catching the attention of Claude VonStroke and making appearances on club and festival lineups across the US. His remix of “The Creeps” marks his return to Dirtybird after the success of his “Abyss” EP.

San Francisco’s own Mike Kerrigan, another rising talent within the label, adds his unique touch to the remix. Kerrigan has been a constant presence in the Dirtybird world, both in the studio and on tour with VonStroke. With a solid track record on the label, including the hit “Penguin Hit Squad,” he continues to make waves in the dance music scene.

“The Creeps” is Claude VonStroke‘s first solo original of the year, following a remix of “Penguin Hit Squad” and the collaboration with Shadow Child on “Steel Thing.” To celebrate this eerie release, VonStroke invites fans to join him at Audio in San Francisco for a Halloweekend filled with supernatural sounds and spine-tingling fun.
