Home Uncategorized Uber launches its services in Ibiza

Starting from 09:00 on November 29, the Uber platform will commence operations in Ibiza, as officially announced on Thursday. Users will be able to access a range of services, including Taxi, Uber Comfort, the premium VTC service, and Uber Van, catering to groups of up to six individuals. Additionally, the Comfort Reserve and Van Reserve services, allowing reservations up to 90 days in advance, will be introduced in the coming weeks.

Uber emphasizes its commitment to collaboration with the taxi sector with this launch. The platform first introduced this service in Madrid in 2019, subsequently expanding to Malaga, Barcelona, and Valencia in 2021, followed by Mallorca, Tenerife, and Zaragoza in 2023. Ibiza now becomes the eighth Spanish town to feature taxis on the Uber app.

Ibiza-based taxi drivers registering with the app stand to earn a 150-euro incentive after completing their initial 25 journeys and an additional 300 euros for each new guest taxi driver they bring onboard. Uber Taxi’s inaugural drivers can access weekly incentives of up to 300 euros.

Uber acknowledges the significant growth in demand for mobility experienced by Ibiza, particularly during the summer months. According to Uber’s data, more than 350,000 users attempted to use the app in Ibiza since May of this year.

Felipe Fernández Aramburu, the General Director of Spain and Portugal at Uber, expressed the company’s ongoing commitment to Spain and the taxi sector. He stated, “We want to collaborate closely with taxi drivers, the local tourism sector, and public administrations to enhance mobility in Ibiza.”

With the Ibiza launch, Uber has extended its presence to 11 cities in Spain.
