Fred Again.. propelled into the public eye opening the general public to his every day samples and his eclectic finger drumming. Flowdan rode the hype, releasing further bangers with Skrillex, G-Rex, Peekaboo, and Chase and Status.

#3. John Summit ft. Hayla – Where You Are

The Miami-based producer teased the track as early as December 2022, building anticipation. Upon its official release in March 2023, featuring the enchanting vocals of Hayla, the song swiftly went viral on TikTok within the three-month timeframe. This viral success catapulted ‘Where You Are’ into the spotlight, establishing it as a chart-topping sensation and further elevating Summit’s musical acclaim.


#4. Kevin de Vries & Mau P – Metro

Sought after in the most distinguished of fashions, ‘Metro’ caused quite the frenzy when featured on the majority sets of Tale Of Us during the summer, and in turn, fans alike eagerly awaited for the release of a track that was taking our scene by storm with each granted opportunity. Hitting right in the feels, Kevin de Vries and Mau P added a melodic techno touch like no other to the 2006 trance classic by Nico Parisi and Eric Hubo, making ‘Metro’ one of the most highly electrifying and of course addictive tracks of 2023.


#5. Peggy Gou – Nanana (It Goes Like)

Peggy Gou’s ‘Nanana (It Goes Like)’ has been a 2023 music highlight for music enthusiasts across the globe. The track takes the listener to something very mystical, thanks to the synth that accompanies the entire track. The track is the introductory release of Anyma’s 14-track album ‘Genesys’.

#16. Jamie Jones – Lose My Mind

#17. FISHER & Aatig – Take It Off

FISHER kicked off the third track of his set at this year’s EDC Las Vegas festival with a fantastic ID, preceded by a Chris Lake remix of Skrillex & Fred again.. & Flowdan’s “Rumble”. This ID, which was announced shortly after as “Take It Off”, simply blared over the speakers as “Have you ever been in that situation? Where you just like, you just wanna take it off?”, which completely blew the minds of the party-goers, all thanks to the slapping beats. The track was released on June 9th, under the CATCH & RELEASE imprint.


#18. Calvin Harris, Sam Smith – Desire

This year, legendary Scottish recording artist Calvin Harris and Sam Smith, the Oscar, Golden Globe, and multiple Grammy-winning English singer-songwriter, have collaborated again after their recent 2018 smash hit ‘Promises’. Calvin Harris has spent much of the latter trying out a new sound that harkens back to 90s rave culture. This led to the chart-topping “Miracle” and then “Desire”, which follows the trance-inspired sound world, building directly on Sam Smith’s great vocals.


#19. Chase & Status, Bou – Baddadan ft. IRAH, Flowdan, Trigga, Takura

Over the past year, Drum and Bass (or DnB) has launched into the stratosphere of EDM culture. At the head of the charge is rave old-head Chase and Status. Teaming up with power-house rapper Flowdan, brought to recent prominence for his work with Skrillex, the pair created what became arguably one of the biggest Drum and Bass anthems of 2023. The track has also pushed the charge for Drum and Bass forward, exposing new fans to Drum and Bass with its constant rotation on TikTok centering on Flowdan’s delivery of one of the hardest vocals in EDM memory.


#20. Michael Bibi & KinAhau ft. Audio Bullys – Different Side

Serving as the only single released in 2023 by the London-based DJ extraordinaire, Different Side is a total dancefloor destroyer courtesy of a collaboration with KinAhau and Audio Bullys. Now that Michael has finally won the battle against cancer, it is evident that the fan-favorite DJ will eventually catch up to speed and provide us with even more breathtaking tracks in the future.

#23. Argy, Omnya – Aria

After taking the electronic music scene by storm with Pantheon in January of 2023, Argy dusted himself off and delivered another melodic techno piece of art in the form of Aria, a collaboration with the Afterlife debutants Omnya. Ethnic chants are present throughout the track and they are largely responsible for building up the energy from the get-go. No wonder Aria became one of the centerpieces of Tale Of Us sets and is on course to become even more successful than its predecessor Pantheon.


#24. Meduza – Phone

Meduza’s ‘Phone’ emerges as a hypnotic sonic journey that captivates from the first note. In another year where tech house saturated the market, this one definitely stood out as one of the best.

Mau P 2022 undoubtedly made a big impact with ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’, and this year he hasn’t been idle in producing similar hits with his production toolkit. ‘Gimme That Bounce’ follows in the footsteps of Tech House, which has seen so much energy put into it by the Dutch DJ and producer, who can now be said to be not only an up-and-coming artist but also a musician who is already recognized from A to Z in his field. The track has received so much support from some of the biggest DJs that it’s hard to follow on 1001Tracklists.


#29. Argy, Goom Gum – Pantheon

Pantheon is one of those tracks that needs no introduction. You’ve either heard this track and instantly have become encapsulated by it, or you haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing this track for the first time. Either way, this track hits all the right spots across the board. The ominous tone quickly gets taken over by the chanting vocal stabs that fall so gracefully on each beat it makes it hard to not groove right along. This is the first time the trio got together and we can only hope they roll this same energy right into 2024.


#30. Elderbrook & Vintage Culture – Talk It Over

A collaboration that just makes sense, Elderbrook and Vintage Culture fused their genius minds in the most immersive of manners, and in doing so, a highly addictive and emotive single was brought to life, in the form of ‘Talk It Over.’ A story-teller of its own calibre, this progressive house anthem leaves no doubt to the imagination, whilst each musical element has been incorporated in a manner that will scintillate even the toughest of crowds. A true gem of a track, both producers have taken us on a deeply emotive journey throughout the track’s entirety.


#31. PARISI x Sebastian Ingrosso x Steve Angello – U Ok?

Starting 2023 with a new heat, the Italian duo PARISI who have previously helped Swedish House Mafia with production and writing have teamed up with Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello for “U Ok?”. This trio has delved deeply into finding inspiration from Roman Flügel’s techno track “Geht’s noch,” released in 2004 by sampling the original track and it has been played many times by Steve Angello during his live sets. Fans are hoping 2024 will be the year that PARISI will finally hit the mainstream EDM scene.


#32. Tiësto – Drifting

Tiësto continues to show fans his staggering versatility with his new fusion of pop and electronic music summer anthem ‘Drifting’. Pulsating synths, mesmerising vocals, and tight breakbeats are a perfect recipe for hypnosis. ‘Drifting’ debuted for the first time to fans at Ultra Music Festival and was hyped by many different DJs such as Martin Garrix to push this sound into the mainstream. This is a one-of-a-kind gem hit that many producers can’t pull off at Tiësto’s age.

Energetic and highly uplifting, the track’s title does justice to what listeners are about to feel once they get their hands on this masterpiece of a production.


#35. Eli Brown – Be The One

Kick-starting 2023 in the most immersive of fashions, Bristol-based DJ/Producer Eli Brown marked his first release with a track that took inspiration from the 90s, and more specifically through the acid house era that was taking over our scene at that time. #36. Jimi Jules – My City’s On Fire (Anyma & Cassian Remix)

Adding their own unique spin to Jimi Jules’s 2021 wonder hit, ‘My City’s On Fire,’ Anyma and Cassian deliver the ultimate rendition, and in turn, caused quite the frenzy amongst their fans and not only. #37. Fideles – Night After Night feat. Be No Rain (CamelPhat Remix)

If you want to listen to great techno music, there are now countless labels to browse their catalogs. One of these is Afterlife, founded in 2016 by Tale Of Us, which specializes in this underground genre. No wonder we mention them and their label in this remix, as Fideles’ EP “Night After Night” was released in March on this label. The EP also features a remix of the song “Night After Night” by CamelPhat, a duo consisting of Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, which turned out to be a really uplifting remix of the original track.


#38. ACRAZE – Take Me Away

American DJ and producer ACRAZE’s career may seem very fresh, but it took him years of DJing to find the signature sound that defines it today. This year, that soaring has continued, with collaborations with several big artists, but “Take Me Away” was still released as a single in early March. The track, with its bass house traits, has now exploded to the point where it has more than 12 million streams on Spotify alone.


#39. DJ Seinfeld & Confidence Man – Now U Do

Taking the iconic hit by Christina Aguilera and elevating it to a whole different dimension, electronic duo Murphy’s Law left no doubt to the imagination with their own unique rendition of ‘Ain’t No Other Man.’ Hailing from Leicester, the duo consisting of brothers Sonny and Finn Murphy are causing quite the havoc, and with musical experience that spans for over half a decade, it is fair to say that nothing less than ultimate success is on their path. A highly-energetic house remake of the 2006 classic, Murphy’s Law continued their ascendancy in the most immersive of manners.


#46. Nathan Dawe x Joel Corry x Ella Henderson – 0800 HEAVEN

A true masterpiece, ‘Papi’ is most definitely a track that you want to get your hands on.

Infusing tech-house and latin in the most spectacular of fashions, ‘Pa Lante’ acts as the perfect feel-good summer anthem, as each musical element has been implemented in a way that will have anyone begging for more. A first collaboration for French DJ/Producer HUGEL and London-based DJ/Producer Ryan Arnold, with the end product speaking volumes on the musical chemistry between these two multifaceted acts. Adding that latin twist, singer/songwriter El Chuape provides the most infectious of vocals, making ‘Pa Lante’ the ultimate hit.

One for the books, this is a production that will have you hooked from start to finish.

The track brings a refreshing change of pace this year to a genre dominated by a bass-heavy approach to Drum and Bass that has become popular through recent inclusion on media platforms.


#58. Reinier Zonneveld, D-Devils – Dance with the Devil (The 6th Gate) [Reinier Zonneveld Remix]

Kick-starting 2023 as he meant to go on, techno legend Reinier Zonneveld opted for the most fierce of remixes, as he took on the iconic hard trance classic, ‘Dance with the Devil (The 6th Gate),’ courtesy of no other than D-Devils. Maintaining the aspects of the original that we all know and love, Zonneveld upped the ante with a crossover of techno and borderline hardcore, leaving us all in true awe of his genius mind. The ultimate of remixes, we can’t help but feel truly mesmerised with each and every one of this iconic act’s endeavours.


#59. Amelie Lens – Feel It

Marking her very first single of 2023, Belgium DJ/Producer Amelie Lens had listeners embark on the most enticing of musical journeys, with ‘Feel It’ further illustrating the undeniable musical prowess that she possesses. Providing only the most feel-good of vibes, ‘Feel It’ was the perfect introduction that led to a sensational year ahead for Lens, whilst the grooviest of auras and her ever-so addictive vocal hook, made for an end product that would leave no doubt to the imagination, and of course, would be topping the charts.


#60. Skrillex, Flowdan, Lil Baby – Pepper

Flowdan has taken the music scene by storm following his most popular release ‘Rumble’ with Fred Again.. and Skrillex. Skrillex and Flowdan continue to develop the sound of Dubstep with huge influences stemming from UK Drill and and Hip Hop while also joining forces with one of Hip Hop’s biggest names Lil Baby. Pepper has been played on one of the biggest entertainment stages in the world for the Tyson Fury V Francis Ngannou boxing match in Saudi Arabia and was heard by tons of A-List celebrities attending. We hope Skrillex and Flowdan continue to shape new sounds and genres in 2024.


#61. Swedish House Mafia – Ray Of Solar

After debuting the track at their exclusive performance at Kappa FuturFestival in Italy earlier in the year, it has now become a staple of their sets. Cinematic, this is arguably the Swedish House Mafia that a lot of people have been waiting to hear again. Euphoric, the piano driven soundscape takes an operatic approach before the drop comes in. In pure Swedish House Mafia style, they have created a record that can fill the dancefloor whilst evoking a strong sense of emotion to tug on the listeners’ heartstrings.


#62. Lost Frequencies – The Feeling

Filled with rhythm, distinctive guitar melodies, and mesmerizing chords, Lost Frequencies versatility and fusion of many different sounds and genres cannot be defined as 1 genre. He continues to bring out the best material to his audience gaining him millions of streams and monthly listeners across many different streaming platforms. 2023 has already been a huge year for him for his hit ‘Where Are You Now’ gaining him a nomination for the Brit Award and over 1.5 billion streams. We hope 2024 will set Lost Frequencies on a streak of new heat material and achieve new milestones.


#63. Martin Garrix, Sentinel, Bonn – Hurricane

Martin Garrix brought a new energy that is unique from the artist’s previous works. With deeply impactful vocals from Bonn, the song sets out in a similar vein to the pop-country fusion that’s become a big part of EDM this year but quickly takes a turn with production unfamiliar to Garrix’s standard, touting a distinct build-up that fills the room with atmosphere then transforms back to Garrix’s classic sound. The track enlivens ravers with vocals that feel in line with a sense of new, a build-up that catches fans off guard, and a drop that feels comfortable and familiar.


#64. ESSEL – Sweat

Sophia Essel expresses gratitude for her Beatport number 1 track, “Sweat,” acknowledging the immense support that propelled it to the top. The song stands out in the chart for its robust, unconventional sound, devoid of prominent samples. Crafted during festival season, “Sweat” aims to be a timeless soundtrack, capturing the euphoria of unforgettable nights at both intimate clubs and grand festivals. The vocal theme, centered on getting lost in the night, originated from Sophia Essel’s experience as a resident DJ at Sankeys Ibiza. The track’s heavy bass, a notable production element, is achieved through meticulous harmony between kick and sub frequencies, with Serum being Sophia Essel’s go-to for bass production.


#65. D.O.D – So Much In Love

Certainly one of the biggest vocal anthems of 2023, D.O.D expanded on the success of some of his previous releases with ‘So Much In Love’. On its way to 40 million streams on Spotify, the up-beat track has also seen significant amounts of radio plays due to its infectious makeup and magical summer vibe. Hitting the sweet spot with fans in the UK in particular, you can expect to hear this one on repeat for many summers to come.


#66. Noizu & Westend – Push To Start ft. No/Me

Fresh off his first ever headline show that spanned 30 shows all across the United States, Westend undoubtedly had a year to remember. Other than that, he teamed up with the house virtuoso Noizu to deliver Push To Start It, a smashing tech house heater suitable for any dancefloor across the globe. Just shy of 20 million streams on Spotify, it is evident that the fame Push To Start It enjoyed didn’t come accidentally.


#67. BENNETT – Vois sur ton chemin (Techno Mix)

The BENNETT techno mix of Vois sur ton chemin sparked a completely new trend in our scene this year as it introduced what people nowadays call stutter techno. The Choristes’ original has been transformed into a scorching techno track and is now beloved by fans and listeners worldwide. What truly makes this track special is how influential it has been on the rave culture as a whole, best seen by the RaveTok trend on TikTok. Many people in this day and age thank this track for introducing them to the vast landscape of electronic music, especially techno.


#68. Dimension – DJ Turn It Up

Getting the attention of electronic music legends such as Chase & Status and Skrillex, Dimension’s excellent production skills are a one-of-a-kind in the Drum and Bass scene with the most anticipated release ‘DJ Turn It Up’ presenting the UK scene with rhythmic gritty basslines and club style vocals to get the set going. London Drum and Bass producer’s aesthetic that runs through his music has positioned him as one of the rising influencers in the scene and many are waiting for new projects from the artist.


#69. Teenage Mutants – Dark Clouds feat. Heerhorst & Peter Pahn

Teenage Mutants, collaborating with Heehorst and Peter Pahn, delivered a memorable Drumcode debut with ‘Dark Clouds,’ illuminating the techno sky. Drawing from their rich background, spanning releases on Terminal M, Filth on Acid, and 1605 Music Therapy, the trio created an anthem that stood out at events like Printworks, Awakenings at the Gashouder during ADE week, and Resistance Abu Dhabi. The track boasted thrilling dramaturgy, combining a stirring vocal line, a thundering acid-infused underbelly, and a laser-focused bassline. Teenage Mutants expressed their dream of creating a boundary-breaking anthem, a dream realized with Drumcode’s support at events like the Blue Tree Songkran festival in Phuket.


#70. David Guetta, MORTEN – Lost In The Rhythm

The Future Rave sound continued to continued to mesmerize crowds as David Guetta debuted ‘Lost In The Rhythm’ during his Ultra Miami 2023 main stage set. Guetta’s and MORTEN’s partnership has defined a whole new genre that has quickly began to grab the attention of the masses. With its complex and emotional synths, ‘Lost In The Rhythm’ is truly a record that continues to push boundaries of a fairly young genre.


#71. Frost Children – Flatline

New York’s Frost Children, the sibling duo of Lulu and Angel Prost, redefined hyperpop with their single “Flatline.” Originally commissioned as a soundtrack for a 2021 runway show, the duo infused arch and giddy energy into their music. Following the self-release of their album “Spiral,” they had signed with True Panther Sounds. “Flatline” pulsated with a relentless house beat, accompanied by vocals oscillating between misty bedroom-pop and quasi-rap chants. The track showcased Frost Children’s genre-bending approach, offering a dynamic fusion of electronic beats and experimental vocals. The Powered By Wind-directed video complemented the track’s vibrant and unconventional essence.


#72. Kelis – Milkshake 20 (Alex Wann Remix)

On the 20th Anniversary of her global smash hit single “Milkshake,” Grammy-nominated singer/ songwriter Kelis released her first re-recorded version of the song, remixed by the up-andcoming Parisian DJ Alex Wann. The electronic remix, which premiered at #1 on Beatport in just 3 hours, became an instant hit in the underground house music scene. It was featured as an Essential New Tune on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show and played by industry heavyweights such as Diplo, Fisher, John Summit, David Guetta, Keinemusik, and more. Kelis, with nearly two decades in the music industry, reflected on the enduring connection of “Milkshake” worldwide, expressing excitement for people to hear the Alex Wann remix.


#73. Sllash & Doppe – Bamboleo

This afro-house track was one that made its stamp on the genre this year. Spending over six weeks at #1 on the Beatport charts, this was Sllash & Doppe’s most successful release since 2019. Bamboleo, meaning a type of sway or wobble, played perfectly throughout clubs across the world and was one of the most fun tracks to come out this year. As you would expect, this song is filled with a ton of rhythm, and the percussion is top-notch. It’s no shock if anybody has this as their Afro-house song of 2023.


#74. Chris Lake, Aluna – More Baby

One of the most stellar collaborations this year came from that of house heavyweight Chris Lake and iconic dance vocalist Aluna. The pair have struck gold with this contagious tech house production upon its release back in September, powering through with vigour and bounce. Designed with the club space in mind the track adds a weapon to any DJs arsenal as any Lake production has done before. Expect him to champion this one for months and years to come as its already proved its worth as a party-starter.


#75. Larse – A Part Of (Riva Starr Extended Saturn Mix)

WIth Larse making waves back in 2022 with the release of ‘A Part Of,’ it comes to no surprise that various remixes have occurred in a bid to further elevate this banger of a track. Taking over the initiative of doing so, was no other than Italian DJ/Producer Riva Starr, with his Extended Saturn Mix taking us all on the most soothing and comforting of musical journeys. A stellar remix, elements of the original do remain intact, however, the noticeable add ons make for a deep house masterpiece.


#76. Bruno Furlan – Bongoloco

Taking over the house scene with each of his endeavours, Brazilian DJ/Producer Bruno Furlan left a lasting impact within our community all throughout 2023, whilst ‘Bongoloco’ arrived at the most fitting of moments. The perfect combination of Latin and stringy minimal, each musical element leaves no doubt to the imagination, with this tech-house banger causing quite the frenzy since its release. Highly addictive from start to finish, ‘Bongoloco’ will have anyone begging for more.


#77. Basstripper – In The City

In The City was a track that burgeoned in the Drum and Bass boom of this past festival season. Basstripper released what would become a massive heavy bass anthem with the track. From the offset, the track invites ravers to get crazy with its hectic musical production. Capitalising with deep undertone basses to reel listeners in, the drop punches with the deepest basses fused with distortion that forces listeners to stop and get down. Behind the music are ravenous arps that never cease, keeping ravers on their feet and working in double time.


#78. Maddix feat. Fēlēs – My Gasoline

Maddix has embarked on an extraordinary post-COVID journey, skillfully pushing the boundaries of his sonic palette. ‘My Gasoline,’ is a testament to his evolution as an artist. The artist has been on a roll ever since, unleashing fresh new tunes from his studio consistently. Commanding attention from the first beat, Don’t Stop The Music comes with an infectious bassline, delivering a groovy foundation that keeps the momentum alive. The arrangement cleverly builds, introducing new layers and intensifying the experience, ensuring that “Don’t Stop the Music” becomes a compelling and unforgettable addition to the tech house genre.


#80. Hayden James & Bob Moses – Do You Want Me

Australian electro-pop sensation Hayden James was responsible for one of the more intriguing team-ups of the year when he collaborated with the Vancouver-bred duo Bob Moses on Do You Want Me in early July. Their collaboration had been coming for a long time after Hayden James delivered his rendition of Bob Moses’ Back Down. Hayden himself commented that the chemistry between the 2 acts in the studio was perfect and that Do You Want Me came to life pretty rapidly. If you truly want a track that screams summer, Do You Want Me is the perfect pick.


#81. REZZ x Quackson x Wreckno – Gyrate

REZZ, Quackson, and Wreckno united for ‘Gyrate’ undoubtedly an iconic moment for the bass scene. With REZZ’s distinctively dark and hypnotic beats coupled with Quackson and Wreckno’s energy, ‘Gyrate’ becomes more than a collaboration as the seamless fusion of styles crafts a bass-heavy melody fans have been playing on repeat. The track is a testament to the artists’ collective ability to transcend genre norms, making ‘Gyrate’ a cutting-edge masterpiece that resonates with bass enthusiasts around the globe.


#82. Adam Ten & Maori – Spring Girl

Adam Ten and Maori dropped their tech-house track, ‘Spring Girl’ on Diplo’s Higher Ground label. Infused with inspiration from Israel’s psytrance scene, the song featured a lively, sped-up vocal sample and a deep, rolling bassline—a unique blend of tech-house with Israeli dance influences. Subtle synth stabs buzzing in the background maintained a moderate tempo, gaining acknowledgment from tech-house heavyweights such as Michael Bibi and Adriatique. To celebrate the release, Adam Ten took the stage at Avant Gardner in Brooklyn, while Maori embarked on his first-ever European tour, playing gigs in Tel Aviv, Dresden, Malmo, and Copenhagen. ‘Spring Girl’ represents a vibrant phase in the duo’s tech-house journey.


#83. Samantha Loveridge, Treetalk – Losing My Religion

The reimagining of the originally well-known lyrics to “Losing My Religion” took the whole track in a whole new direction. The melodic house & techno reworking, with a special drum sound in the background, resulted in a truly fantastic creation. Seeing this masterpiece realized in the electronic music direction, most of us will be surprised, at how good it is to see an old well-known vocal sound in the present.


#84. Anyma & Rebūke – Syren

Rebūke, an up-and-coming figure in Irish electronic music, collaborated with Anyma, now a major figure in melodic techno, well-known from the duo Tale Of Us. Their collaboration gave birth to “Syren”, which quickly became one of the defining tracks of the melodic techno line in 2023. The basic sound of the track follows very closely the sound of both of them, making it a perfect match for the album “Genesys” released by Anyma in August.


#85. Mark Knight, James Hurr – Lady (Hear Me Tonight)

Modjo’s iconic Lady (Hear Me Tonight) has remained one of the pinnacles of electronic music since its release in 2001. Various remixes and bootlegs came and gone but not many can rival the version Mark Knight & James Hurr presented this year. Taking a more raw approach to the classic, the Toolroom boss incorporated heavy drums in the drops which makes the track walk a fine line between emotion and energy. A truly masterful version by one of the house pioneers of the 2000s.


#86. Wuki – Sunshine (My Girl)

Wuki released a feel-good track set for summertime vibing this year with his release of Sunshine (My Girl). Focusing on trippy effects to compliment the vocals sampled from The Temptations 1964 track My Girl, the track brings a Californian whimsicalness to listeners that invites them to bask in the sun and get weird with its perplexing musicality. It’s a weirdness that listeners can’t help but find themselves vibing along with throughout the summer. It is a track that is set to compliment many festival road trip playlists for many festival seasons yet to come.


#87. Bart Skils – Roll The Dice

Bart Skils made a stellar return to Drumcode through his massive dancefloor anthem, “Roll the Dice.” The renowned Dutch producer, known for crafting breathtaking beats, once again delivered a track that commanded attention. The title track featured a sharp, reverb-infused bassline complemented by an engaging Arabic vocal sample, creating an irresistible and memorable tune. The rolling bassline had bodies moving instantly, making it a standout in Skils’ energetic sets—recently showcased during a lively tour of South America and at Space Miami. With its catchy elements and exotic vocal vibes, “Roll the Dice” lingered in the minds of listeners, offering an exhilarating journey into Skils’ sonic prowess.


#88. Lil Wayne – A Milli (SIDEPIECE Remix)

Those who love to occasionally listen to rap alongside electronic music were certainly in for a treat when SIDEPIECE got the clearance to release their remix of Lil Wayne’s iconic A Milli. House is known as a genre that always thrived on sampling and the SIDEPIECE remix of A Milli is a testament to that. Lil Wayne’s instantly recognizable style is accompanied by meticulously crafted drum patterns and that said combination was always the ultimate highlight of SIDEPIECE sets over the year. Party Favor and Nitti are still going strong with their house project and they are not planning to stop anytime soon.


#89. Space 92 – Gravity

French DJ and producer Space 92 has been active this year in releasing better and better tracks. In just the second month of the year, he released the track that has become one of the darlings of techno culture this year. “Gravity” was released on Reinier Zonneveld’s label Filth on Acid. The track is a really punchy club track with really trippy melodies.

#92. Alignment – Close Your Eyes

With the honor of being placed on Beatport’s most streamed tracks of 2023 and the Chart Toppers 2023 playlist, this hard-techno track quickly rose up the ranks after its release in March. The synth work that Alignment displays on ‘Close Your Eyes’ is riveting, and from the first second to the last, it never loses an ounce of energy but only gains steam. As the title track of his latest album, Alignment received major praise from the industry for the track, and some of the most respected names in techno, such as Charlotte De Witte, supported it in their sets this year.


#93. Hardwell, Nicky Romero, MERYLL – I Wanna Dance

Back from an almost decade-long hiatus, Hardwell has shown over the past 2 years that there is no stop in sight for the artist. Teaming up with co-legend Nicky Romero, the pair released I Wanna Dance. The track is aptly suited for any underground or warehouse raves that we’ve seen over the past year and invites listeners to dance along with a heart-pounding bass line and just the right level of distortion. The track highlights unforgettable nights getting hot and sweaty at the rave in parties they may or may not remember the next day.


#94. Aversion – Activation

Being the only hardstyle track on this list, Activation 100 percent did something right to beat out some of the other exquisite competitors of the harder styles in 2023. Embraced by the Dutch big-room pioneer Hardwell as his ultimate set closer throughout the festival season, Activation surely got stuck in the minds and eardrums of anyone who has ever heard its infectious kicks and memorable melody. Aversion consequently got rewarded with a collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Brennan Heart which is set to drop somewhere next year. Expect Activation to also rank high in this year’s Q-Dance hardstyle top 100 list. This is just the start for Aversion.


#95. PEEKABOO, Flowdan, Skrillex, G-Rex – Badders

‘Badders’ by PEEKABOO, Flowdan, Skrillex, and G-Rex stands out in 2023, seamlessly merging dark production, commanding vocals, and iconic influence. This genre-defying masterpiece signifies a dynamic fusion of diverse talents. Fans can easily recall when Skrillex posted a video on his Instagram capturing the electrifying crowd energy at WE LOVE GREEN Festival in Paris which represents the track’s significance. ‘Badders’ not only exemplifies collaborative brilliance but also carves a distinct presence in the music industry, where creativity and collective artistry converge to craft an immersive musical journey.


#96. David Guetta, MARTEN HØRGER – The Freaks

#97. Diplo, Walker & Royce, Channel Tres – Diamond Therapy

A collaboration for the ages. It’s not often you see such a stacked lineup of insanely talented artists on one track and yet Diplo, Walker & Royce, and Channel Tres managed to completely blow all expectations out of the water when their collaboration Diamond Therapy officially dropped. Channel Tres’ mysterious voice echoes through the track’s frequencies with ease and Diplo and Walker & Royce showcased their exquisite production techniques to concoct one of the standout house tracks of the whole year.


#98. Cassian & ICEHOUSE – Great Southern Land

Amongst arguably some of his more successful work this year, Grammy winning DJ and producer Cassian’s most intriguing track came to life when he decided to remake Great Southern Land by the Australian band ICEHOUSE. Great Southern Land came out in 1982 and it definitely withstood the test of time up until Cassian decided to put his own unique spin on the evergreen original. Now, in 2023, Great Southern Land sounds as fresh as ever and it’s all thanks to the unmatched qualities that Cassian possesses and keeps on honing every passing day.


#99. Pickle – Crank That

The all-time favourite musical character, Pickle returned in March with their first release of the year. The bass house track, infused with strong beats, was released on Pickle’s usual Spinnin’ Records, but this time, through its sub-label, Musical Freedom. So far, the track has reached millions of views across multiple platforms, which is no surprise as our little electronic music hero has outdone their brilliant self.
