On the 24th of August 2024, the iconic band New Order will make a triumphant return to Manchester for a special homecoming performance. This marks their first full headline show in the city since 2021. The all-day outdoor concert, set to take place at Wythenshawe Park, follows the success of the debut event headlined by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds earlier in the year. Joining the lineup are Manchester’s own Johnny Marr and the adopted Mancunian, Róisín Murphy.

New Order, rising from the ashes of the legendary band Joy Division, overcame tragedy to become one of the most influential and acclaimed bands in history. Celebrating 40 years of their hit ‘Blue Monday’ this year, the band announced reissued editions of their classic compilation ‘Substance 1987,’ their best-selling album to date. Continuing to perform live globally, they recently headlined Barcelona’s Primavera Sound in Summer 2023 before embarking on a UK and European tour in the autumn.

Supporting New Order at the event is former The Smiths guitarist and friend of the band, Johnny Marr. In the late 1980s, Marr and New Order’s Bernard Sumner formed Electronic, a synth-dance act that remained their primary side project throughout the 1990s. This year, Johnny Marr announced a new album, ‘Spirit Power: The Best of Johnny Marr,’ featuring hits from his solo career. Fans can anticipate hearing his greatest hits, including the new track ‘The Answer,’ as Marr graces the stage at Wythenshawe Park.

Joining the lineup is Irish singer and songwriter Róisín Murphy, known in the 1990s as one half of the pop duo Moloko. Following the release of her universally acclaimed sixth studio album, ‘Hit Parade,’ she brings her charisma and talent to Wythenshawe Park after a sold-out gig at Manchester’s Albert Hall in May.

Presale tickets are available from Monday, 4th December, at 10 am, with general sale tickets on Tuesday, 5th December, at 10 am via ticketmaster.co.uk and gigsandtours.com.
