Seven Lions delivers breathtaking new remix for Above & Beyond’s ‘Satellite’: Listen

15 long years have passed since Above & Beyond debuted their first-ever LP as their side project OceanLab. To celebrate 15 years of Sirens Of The Sea, the trio finally decided to officially release Seven Lions’ Satellite remix which serves as the penultimate of the remixes bound for release.

Seven Lions is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best friends and colleagues of Above & Beyond which was shown on several occasions, most notably in their two official collaborations. See The End and Over Now, with Opposite The Other, are testaments of that friendship. Their relationship is at an all-time high, as the trio finally decided to release the Seven Lions remix of their OceanLab single Satellite which Seven Lions uploaded on his Soundcloud 12 years ago. The remix is a part of the Anthology box set which is a celebration of OceanLab’s debut long-play Sirens Of The Sea released in 2008. More on that later on.

The Seven Lions remix is the third in line in the Anthology series, following the Genix remix of Beautiful Together and Above & Beyond’s progressive mix of Satellite. With a runtime of 5 minutes, the remix hits all the right spots to make the listener feel emotional and involved in the story the track is trying to tell. The remix is also a throwback to Seven Lions’ early production days when he was just starting out in the melodic bass/dubstep landscape. The melody of the remix is relatively simple, crafted using a soothing yet piercing synth. It is suitable for both enjoying it in the comfort of your home and headbanging on the rail.

As I’ve mentioned above, Above & Beyond is celebrating 15 years of their underrated OceanLab LP Sirens Of The Sea with a one-of-a-kind Anthology box set, one that packs so many things inside it that it just about justifies its 150 euros (164 US dollars) price tag. The Seven Lions remix is one of 4 remixes on it, 2 others are mentioned in the last paragraph, and a Marsh remix of Sirens Of The Sea. Some other noteworthy additions in the box include sheet music, an exclusive 10-inch Another Chance single, 2x original Sirens Of The Sea LP albums, and some bonus content. All of that is packed into an incredibly-looking box, specially designed for this occasion. Overall, it’s a quite remarkable special edition.
