Steve Aoki is known for many things, electrifying productions, aspirations to visit space, and cake throwing, but he always returns to his emo roots in his work. Now he revisits another early 2000s classic to provide a Main Stage-sized mega anthem.

When Yellowcard broke through to the mainstream in the early 2000s, the group earned acclaim for their massive sing-a-long choruses and endless support from Disney radio of all places. While they never replicated the success of their third album, Ocean Avenue, the songs on it and the success of the title track earned them a loyal fanbase and support that continues to this day. The emo revival continues strong thanks to events such as When We Were Young, which is preparing to run for its third straight year in 2024, Yellowcard is finding itself thrust back into the spotlight as fans try to recapture the energy of the era. One artist who has always kept the spirit of the scene alive is Steve Aoki, who has not only remixed a vast number of classic emo tracks but regularly features artists from the genre on his releases.

Having previously added his touch to classic tracks like Welcome To The Black Parade, Feeling This, and Cute Without The ‘E‘, Aoki seems intent on making his way through the entire emo classics songbook. Now with the release of Ocean Avenue, he has delivered one of his heavier and more exciting remixes of the emo genre. While the massive melodies and lyrics of singer William Ryan Key remain the star of the track, Steve Aoki beautifully reimagines the musical foundation, building to a massive Main Stage-worthy ending that properly elevates the iconic chorus to the soaring levels it deserves.

Whether you were there when Yellowcard first broke out or are discovering the group for the first time thanks to the recent emo revival, Steve Aoki has crafted an incredibly fun new take on Ocean Avenue. As for Steve Aoki, he is closing an incredible year that saw him take over festival stages around the globe, throwing cake at fans night after night, while also celebrating the second part of his latest album collection and trading card game series, Hiroquest.
