One of the most exciting elements of electronic music is the continual collaborations and joint projects, helping to continuously evolve sounds, styles, and experiences for fans around the world. While it is not uncommon for even the biggest stars in the industry to work with collaborators, when two icons come together, the scene does take notice.

While Kraftwerk and the tenure of Wolfgang Flür existed long before the current crop of electronic producers and festivals, their name and music continue to inspire fans new and old around the globe. As the group itself continues to perform live despite having not released new music in two decades, Flür, who left the group in 1987, is gearing up to release his third solo album since 2015. Revealing that the new album will be released later this year in September, the percussionist also discussed an exciting list of collaborators, including another famous robot.

“My album Time will be released in September,” Flür told Swiss-German media outlet Blick in an excerpt we’ve translated to English. “Great people are involved: Peter Hook from New Order, Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk, U96 from Hamburg—and Juan Atkins from Detroit.”

It is certainly impossible to read the quote from Flür without seeing Thomas Bangalter’s name amongst those contributing. While Bangalter has spent recent years writing scores for ballets and films, he is of course world reknowned for his work in Daft Punk. This is certainly one of the most iconic collaborations in the history of dance music as one Kraftwerk robot is joining forces with a robot from Daft Punk.

With no official timeline for when to expect new singles from the project, or even how much Bangalter contributed to the album, fan speculation will surely be in full force throughout the coming months as they await the opportunity to hear the fruits of the producer’s labor. For now, the world will have to wait patiently and digest the incredible back-catalogues of Kraftwerk and Daft Punk as they await this new release from Wolfgang Flür.
