Madonna sued by fans over late concert start

Home News Madonna sued by fans over late concert start

Two Madonna fans have decided to seek legal action against Madonna for starting nearly two hours later than anticipated at one of her three-night Brooklyn gigs.

Madonna, Live Nation, and Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center are at the center of a lawsuit by Madonna fans alleging that the singer began her show two hours later than advertised. Madonna, who is currently on the North American leg of her ‘Celebration Tour’, a tour dedicated to the star’s 40-year career, had a three-night show scheduled in Brooklyn, New York, at the Barclay’s Center where plaintiffs, Jonathan Hadden and Michael Fellows, are alleging that the singer did not arrive on stage until 10:30pm. The plaintiffs state that had they known she would not begin performing until 10:30pm, they would not have bought tickets and that the concert was advertised as beginning at 8:30pm. They state that because of this, the ticket sales are “false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices.”

Included in the filing reads, “Many ticketholders who attended concerts on a weeknight had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day. Defendants failed to provide any notice to the ticketholders that the concerts would start much later than the start time printed on the ticket and as advertised, which resulted in the ticketholders waiting for hours.”

The pair are suing for unspecified damages, but state that because of the later-than-anticipated ending of the concert, they were “confronted with limited public transportation, limited ride-sharing, and/or increased public and private transportation costs.”

According to local news, Madonna faced a similar suit during her 2019 Madame X Tour. The suit was later voluntarily dropped.
