Drawing inspiration from Rio’s jubilant Carnival, Oliver Heldens and Ian Asher present their rendition of the globally renowned hit “Mas Que Nada.” Originating from Jorge Ben’s creation, the song gained immense popularity when Sérgio Mendes and Brasil ’66 released their cover in 1966. Peaking at #4 on the U.S. Billboard charts, the anthem earned accolades, including being voted the fifth-greatest Brazilian song by Rolling Stone Brazil and induction into the Latin Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013, solidifying its status as a cultural music staple across Latin America.

The journey of this reimagining began with a viral sound posted by Ian Asher in July 2023. Oliver Heldens, infusing the track with light, freedom, groove, and nostalgia, crafted a party anthem enriched with percussive vibrance. Sérgio Mendes himself blessed this transformation.

Oliver Heldens shared, “I’ve always loved the vocals of the timeless ‘Mas Que Nada.’ It’s been a pleasure working with Ian, and it’s such an honor to get the approval of the legendary Sérgio Mendes!”

Accumulating over 175,000 organic user-generated videos on social media since Ian Asher’s original sound post, the rework has become a sensation. Known for catchy reworks, Asher previously revitalized Jain’sMakeba” with a TikTok remix in 2023, amassing 50 million streams globally. The Dutch star and Asher rework stands out with rich production, uptempo energy, feel-good chords, and an infectious stutter vocal, ensuring its place as a dancefloor weapon for years to come.
