The WLT talks about her new single, producing, and Armin van Buuren: Exclusive Interview

The WLT has been making a name for herself in recent years thanks to her incredible productions and unforgettable performances. Following her recent release of You Won’t Forget Me, we caught up with the Romanian producer to discuss her incredible career and what drives her to create.

1. What inspired you to start DJing and producing?      

From a young age, I have listened to Tiesto and growing up with his music! But once I discovered W&W (11 years ago) my love for music became one of the most important things in my life so that for, I’ve started producing and DJing.

2. What have been your major highlights as a DJ so far?

For me every single party is important, but UNTOLD is my highlight! 

3. What can you tell us about your life growing up outside of music?

My life it always been simple, but happy! Traveling a lot, moving from country to country, city to city! I am growing up together with my husband an amazing and happy kid. Also, I am a gym fan. 

6. How do you expect your style to grow and evolve in the future?

I will never stop producing trance music, but I am open to trying new styles such as mainstage/big room techno and EDM, because I am also a fan of these two styles. Anyway, I think that we, the producers should follow the movement and trends of the electronic dance music scene because the changes in it will always be helpful in order to reach the hearts of the young and future fans!

7. Beyond recording vocals in Romanian, how else does cultural influences from your country show up in your music?

In 2023, my track ‘Outlander’ was released on Future Sound Of Egypt and the video of the track was filmed in the town I used to live at that point because there was an amazing view and it was just fitting the track! 

8. What plug-ins or gear are essential to your workflow?

The VSTs I use the most are Spire and Serum and the plug-ins I use for compression, EQ, and reverb / delay are the ones from FabFilter, iZotope and ValhallaDSP!

9. What’s one thing you would change about the electronic music scene if you could?

If I could change something it would be about giving a change to every single producer and DJ, because it is very hard to enter in the scene of EDM, and in my opinion out there are a lot of amazing producers and DJs who never had the chance to sign to a good label or to play at a gig. 

12. You’ve played UNTOLD a few times, what other festivals are on top of your bucket list?

So far I have played at UNTOLD three time! Another festival that I was pleased to play at was After Hills! 

13. Did you know Armin would be debuting the new single from the MainStage of UNTOLD?

No, No!! No idea! I just sent it over to him and had no idea that he would play it! It was an amazing surprise for us!

14. How do you feel about the work of producing music vs. creating content for social media in the modern age?

Good one! First of all, you need time, a lot of time(talking about myself now) and as you need inspiration for producing, you need inspiration for the social media content! Sometimes I find it very hard, because I may not find the materials I need, or sometimes I don’t really feel like I have the mood to post a story with me just to keep in touch with my followers, but I am trying my best! It is an essential thing to survive in this world. 

15. What are your hobbies outside of music?

Most of my free time is dedicated to my family, especially to my son, but also I am a mountain lover and every time we get the chance we just go for a trip. 

Also, reading books is one of my favorite hobbies. 

Listening and searching for new music is a thing I do as a hobby!
