Carl Cox explains why he’s skipping Ultra Miami 2024
Ultra Miami 2024 will be missing one of its biggest stars, as Carl Cox has revealed that he is skipping the festival to focus on other events around the world.
Carl Cox, one of the most influential and respected DJs in the world, has announced that he will not be performing at Ultra Miami 2024, the flagship event of the Ultra Music Festival series. The British house and techno legend took to Instagram to explain his decision, saying that he wanted to focus on other events around the world this year. He also revealed that he has a “special” headlining set planned for Ultra Miami 2025, which will mark the festival’s 25th anniversary.
Cox has been a staple of Ultra Miami since its inception in 1999, playing 19 times over the past 22 years. He has curated his own stage, the RESISTANCE Megastructure, which showcases the best of the underground scene. He has also performed memorable back-to-back sets with other icons such as Adam Beyer, Maceo Plex, and Eric Prydz.

However, Cox has not forgotten his loyal fans in Miami. He promises to return with a bang in 2025, saying that he has “something very special” in store for them. He also invites them to join him at Miami’s M2 nightclub on May 3rd, 2024, where he will play for RESISTANCE Miami, a week-long series of events that coincides with the Ultra festival.
Cox also shared his thoughts on the current state and future of electronic music, which he said is constantly evolving and expanding. He said that he is optimistic and excited about the new generation of producers and DJs, who are bringing fresh ideas and sounds to the scene. He also said that he is always open to learning and experimenting with new technologies and genres, as long as they have soul and groove.
Cox’s announcement comes as Ultra Miami 2024 has revealed its full lineup, featuring some of the biggest names in electronic music, such as Marshmello, Zedd, Alesso, Hardwell, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, and Swedish House Mafia. The festival will take place from March 24th to 26th, 2024, at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami.
