Home Events Coachella announces exciting changes and upgrades to Sahara Tent

While fans must wait until April to descend upon the desert of Indio, CA for the annual Coachella Festival, event organizers are already preparing the grounds. Now the team at Goldenvoice has revealed an exciting new change to one of the event’s most popular stages.

For Coachella, the Sahara Tent has hosted many iconic acts over the years, including legendary producers like Daft Punk, Skrillex, and The Chemical Brothers. In a newly released video, Jason Brown, the VP of Artist Production at Goldenvoice, discusses the team’s decision to both move as well as make massive upgrades to the popular stage and structure. Beginning in December, workers began the process of building a suitable foundation for the Sahara Tent, which is moving from its past location next to the Eldorado Social Club over to Avenue 51 and Polo Road, a spot of land the event has never utilized before. The new location provides organizers the ability to revamp the design and size of the structure, a decision that will hopefully be a win for both artists and fans.

At the 2024 edition of the festival, the formerly 280-foot tent with now stretch to an impressive 380′ in length and will receive a sturdy steel shell that will replace the former aluminum case that outfitted the original. In the video, Brown goes on to share how the crew would begin work at 3 am to not crowd the streets of the Indio community as they delivered concrete and other materials to the site. Closing out the short clip, Brown goes on to note how the new Sahara Tent will offer more production options and techniques and namedrops Peggy Gou, leaving fans to believe that she will be performing on the stage this year.
