Nero rediscovers lost CDs containing original WAVs from 2004-2010

Nero, the trio most well-known for their single ‘Promises’, has found a pile of CDs containing lots of unreleased music from their breakout period hidden away in an attic. The group took to X to share the discover with fans but announced they are unsure of what they will do with the works going forward.

Nero, recently come back to prominence with their Drum N Bass work, recently discovered a huge stack of previously unreleased work. What is interesting about the newly-discovered CD-Rs is that the trio claims that the stack contains all of their old DnB work. It is surprising to hear of a group so well founded in the Dubstep scene who rarely ventured outside the confines of the genre having worked in secrecy on a, at the time, radically different genre. Now that the gap has been bridged between the worlds of Dubstep and DnB, it would not be surprising to see these old pieces of work finally come to light. The stack of CDs comes from the era of Nero that brought them their greatest success with hits such as ‘Promises‘, ‘Guilt‘, and ‘Holdin’ On‘.

The finding of the CDs and the news of their contents shows that Nero has been a fan of the DnB genre well before the genre bloomed in the public eye and were interested in producing pieces outside of their regular beats. Though the news is exciting for fans of both Nero from the early 2000-2010s as well as Drum N Bass, fans should not get their hopes up, expecting the reveal of the CDs to be a guarantee that the material found on the disks will be released.

The group released a picture of the stack of CDs to their X. The stack was labelled with a scribbled “old Nero bits” in marker. The group has stated they are unsure of what they are going to do with the old material.

Nero celebrates the 20th anniversary of the groups founding this year and coincides with the release of their new album ‘Into The Unknown‘ later this year. This new album will be the first album the group has released in almost a decade following the 2015 release of their LP ‘Between II Worlds‘.

The outfit are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, and are due to release a new album, titled Into The Unknown, later this year. It will mark their first full-length release in nearly a decade, with their 2015 album, Between II Worlds, being their most recent LP.
