HI-LO, Green Velvet, and Dajae come together for ‘LIFT ME UP’: Listen

For the latest HI-LO single, Heldens enlists help from Green Velvet and Dajae, helping build a track that is meant for the dance floor but certainly offers plenty of nuance and intrigue throughout. Coming just weeks after his latest release alongside Danny Avila, the melodically infectious PARADISE, his latest offers more of a dark club energy which certainly came just in time for him to play the previous weekend as HI-LO made its debut at the legendary German club, Bootshaus. With LIFT ME UP, the grittiness of the bassline and production fits well with his other 2024 single, GENESIS.

Bursting with seamlessly endless energy and inspiration, Oliver Heldens has been splitting time between his works and his HI-LO alter ego. Now his bass-focused alias returns for his third single of the new year.

Opening up with a darkly filtered synth and percussion that almost sounds like it was recorded in a garage, the refrain of ‘lift me up’ is repeated before a syllabic refrain of the melody takes over as the music shifts. The unique production sound and style give the track its edge and showcase a group of artists who aren’t afraid to take chances and craft sounds and filters that stray from the norm. The track transforms into a full bass-heavy banger very quickly, as the vocal continues to be interspersed throughout.

Mid-way through, the music drops out as a pinging lead, and the vocals carry the space, speeding up as other elements are reintroduced. While the concept is not uncommon for the electronic music scene, HI-LO delivers it with a unique twist, carrying the suspense even further.

With the release of LIFT ME UP, Oliver Heldens continues to showcase the power and fearless invention of his HI-LO works.
