Home Music Techno Rebūke puts his take on deadmau5’s ‘Not Exactly’: Listen

Brand new to the airwaves, Rebūke has just refreshed deadmau5‘s track “Not Exactly”, this time with a melodic techno feel. Out today, April 12th, on mau5trap.

In an aptly timed release leading into Rebūke’s Yuma tent performances at Coachella this Saturday, April 13th & April 20th, and deadmau5 headlining the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on April 27th, followed by two shows on May 2nd & 3rd at the Brooklyn Mirage in NYC with ‘retro5pective’ shows celebrating his 25-year music career, this new remix couldn’t come at a more perfect time.

Rebūke’s “Not Exactly” marks the first time in 17 years that deadmau5’ mau5trap has released an official remix of the song. Other artists that have put their mark on the track include Peter Gelderblom, Trick & Kubic, Jean-Claude Ades, and Major North.   Originally released as a single in 2007, “Not Exactly” appeared on deadmau5’ third album 2008’s random album titleThe nine-minute and 15-second instrumental was an early success for the newly formed mau5trap at the time winning the Beatport Music Award for “Best Single” and charting on the US Dance/Electronic Digital Sales Song chart two years after its release.

The track itself is dark and downright filthy. The synths rattle their way to the forefront, stealing the track’s spotlight. Rebūke works his magic creating an even more ominous space for the synths to breathe, giving this track that uncomfortable and dirty vibe.
