Swedish House Mafia addresses delayed single ‘Lioness’ at recent show
Earlier in April, Sebastian Ingrosso took to the Coachella Stages to deliver a powerful set and debut a new Swedish House Mafia single. The excitement boiled over as the group announced it for release on April 26th, but the day came and went without the song making it to streaming services.
For those keeping track, it has now been over eight months since the Swedish House Mafia last released new music into the world. That musical drought was set to end on April 26th, but fans were disappointed as the group revealed that they were in fact not satisfied with the final mix at that point. It was a frustrating day for fans around the world and offset only by the surprise announcement of a last-minute show at the Brooklyn Mirage in New York on the 27th. During that incredible set in Brooklyn, a show that sold out in record time for the venue, the trio not only played the still unreleased track Lioness but also provided some clarity on its impending release.
During the epic set, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello were able to navigate through their massive catalog of hits, debuted a few updated mixes of popular tracks, and played out what now seems to be the final edit of Lioness. Taking to social media, they apologized for the delay and went on to say, ‘New York you heard the final version now we are ready!’ While fans are still awaiting an official release date, this statement seems promising that it will get released sooner rather than later.
Thank You New York!!!
