Tigran Hamasyan debuts his latest single “The Kingdom” from the eagerly anticipated album “The Bird of A Thousand Voices.” Inspired by an ancient Armenian legend, this album follows a hero’s quest into mystical realms to retrieve a legendary bird. This mythical creature’s celestial song promises to restore harmony to a troubled world. Hamasyan describes “The Kingdom” as a precursor to the larger transmedia project inspired by the Armenian folktale “The Bird of a Thousand Voices.” The song introduces a benevolent king ruling over a kingdom blessed with a bountiful garden. However, a curse cast by an old woman transforms the garden into a desolate wasteland and the people into heartless creatures. Only the enchanting song of the mystical bird can reverse the curse, but finding it requires embarking on a perilous journey fraught with demons and temptations. The melodic structure, characterized by cascading arpeggios, symbolizes the timeless and divine essence of the bird’s song, setting the tone for the hero’s quest in both the music and the accompanying online game.
