Groove Armada unveils the ‘Free Jam EP‘ as the inaugural record of their extended contract with Defected, setting the stage for future releases.

Under this agreement, the duo will distribute their music through Defected and Glitterbox Recordings, with the debut EP scheduled to drop on the sub-label DFTD on May 24th, 2024. You can pre-save the track here.

After announcing their long-term collaboration with Defected last August, Groove Armada introduces their first offering, the ‘Free Jam EP,’ under Defected’s sub-label DFTD. Having impressed audiences at Defected and Glitterbox events, Groove Armada will continue headlining Defected’s global events while introducing fresh tracks that span house and disco genres, showcasing Defected’s diverse musical catalog.

The ‘Free Jam EP‘ highlights Groove Armada’s prowess in club music, reflecting their extensive experience on the dancefloor. The title track pays homage to deep house, featuring soulful vocals by renowned dance vocalist Kathy Brown, perfectly complementing the duo’s distinct percussive elements. Meanwhile, ‘New Kind Of Drama‘ delivers another dose of expertly crafted club music, characterized by bold synths and dynamic vocals by Slarta John, creating an exhilarating carnival atmosphere.

According to Andy Cato of Groove Armada, “Free Jam” was conceived during a late-night session in a Byron Bay hotel room, reminiscent of the euphoric moments of house music parties. He expressed excitement about returning to the roots of house music and being part of the Defected family, which promotes the original ethos of house parties on a global scale.

With chart-topping hits like ‘At The River,’ ‘I See You Baby,’ and ‘Superstylin’‘, and nine studio albums under their belt, Groove Armada’s influence on UK electronic music is undeniable. Their management team, Nathan Thursting and Mike Cridland, emphasized the perfect synergy between Groove Armada and Defected, as the duo reignites their DJ career worldwide.
