Jeff Mills has been a pioneer of not only techno sounds and production but also a fearless adventurer looking to craft new experiences and concepts. Now he builds upon the concepts explored on his latest full-length album to deliver a truly unique vinyl record.

When Jeff Mills released THE TRIP-Enter The Black Hole back in March, he presented a sprawling piece of work that looked to explore the mythical concepts and contradictions of black holes. Infamously difficult to study, black holes are anomalies in space where gravity is so strong that information is unable to leak from it. They are so difficult to study, that their existence wasn’t confirmed until 2011 at which time researchers found that they rotate on their own axis. Leaning into this physical anomaly, Mills has brought the concept to the physical release of the new album.

Taking to Instagram, Mills shared a look at the soon-to-be-released vinyl showing how it is cut to be played from the inner rings out, in opposition to how vinyl records are traditionally cut. This commitment to the concept and incredible design help listeners further explore the black hole image and is truly an incredible way to present the album. Written with Japanese New Wave vocalist Jun Togawa, THE TRIP – Enter The Black Hole builds upon contradictory workings of black holes, giving them an audio footing.

Set to officially release on May 10th, the reverse cut double vinyl and CD are available to order now via Axis Records.
