AVALAN ROKSTON: Carving a new path [Magazine Exclusive]

Meet AVALAN ROKSTON. Consisting of Grammy-nominated Avalan and producer / songwriter Rokston, between them they have garnered tens of millions of streams in their respective solo careers. Now, they’re putting their geniuses together to shake up the electronic scene.

With performances at Ushuaïa Ibiza, collaborations with Moby and a string of hit singles and remixes already under their belt since starting in the scene not long ago, it’s clear that AVALAN ROKSTON are destined for success. To get a more in depth look into their career so far and how they see it developing, we spoke to them to find out everything.

Hi guys, thanks for joining us! Going to the very start, how did you two connect and what made you realise you wanted to start a project together?

“It was during the lockdown in 2022. I was out for a walk and happened to hear Valentijn recording in his house. I waved at him until he noticed me. We had a quick chat and suggested we do a session together. We decided to give it a shot, and once we started working together, we immediately clicked and started planning more sessions. We noticed we were really on the same page in terms of taste and vision. Next to that we happen to compliment each other really well in our workflow with the vocals on one side, and a bigger focus on production on the other. That’s when we realised we had something special and wanted to start a project together.“

What do you think it is about you both as a duo that works so well in terms of your creative processes and ideas?

“Our creative synergy mostly comes from our ability to quickly exchange ideas. Our process is very fast-paced and dynamic. We often send short vocal ideas or production sketches back and forth and finish what feels special. We always get immediate feedback and resonance from each other.“
