Charli XCX releases highly acclaimed sixth album ‘Brat’: Listen

‘Brat’ is Charli XCX’s sixth studio album, and perhaps her most anticipated by fans worldwide. With no features, this puts the spotlight solely on her as an artist.

From fans claiming that this would be the album of the year before even healing any of it, to a massive campaign that has seen world domination, the power of Charli XCX cannot be understated. No stranger to the art of albums, Charli is now welcoming in her 6th era of album releases with ‘Brat’. Already being hailed as an instant cult classic and a perfect nod to club culture, it’s finally here. 

Constantly breaking the internet, this was no less true when she released the teaser for the album in the form of single ‘Von dutch’ which has already gained tens of millions of plays upon release. Following this, fans also got tastes in the form of singles ‘360’, ‘Club classics’ and ‘B2b’. Each with their own unique flavour and attitude, this set the tone for what the world could expect from ‘Brat’, and what we got was pure, unfiltered energy. 

Although she is used to being unapologetically herself, this album is the result of two decades of perfecting her craft and becoming a cultural icon. Speaking to Billboard, she had this to say about ‘Brat’: 

“This album is very direct. I’m over the idea of metaphor and flowery lyricism and not saying exactly what I think, the way I would say it to a friend in a text message. This record is all the things I would talk about with my friends, said exactly how I would say them. It’s in ways very aggressive and confrontational, but also very conversational and personal.”

If anything, ‘Brat’ is the biggest nod to the club culture and pop blend that she has embraced in her career so far, allowing listeners to truly let go and be immersed in this neon green fantasy world.
