On June 17, 2024, the music industry mourned the passing of Paul Spencer, better known worldwide as Dario G. While the project achieved global success as a trio, Spencer continued the legacy of Dario G on his own until his passing.

In honor of Paul Spencer’s life and to celebrate his works, we take a look at 10 of the most iconic Dario G singles from throughout his storied career:

1. Sunchyme

Where it all began for Dario G. Paul Spencer and his original bandmates Scott Rosser and Stephen Spencer found success by achieving the number 2 spot on the UK charts. Sunchyme is built around a sample from Life In A Northern Town, a top 15 hit for The Dream Academy.

2. Carnaval De Paris

The second hit from the Dario G camp. It was a great follow-up to Sunchyme and received a major push as the unofficial anthem of the 1998 World Cup in Paris, achieving the number 5 spot on the UK Singles chart. The single would receive an additional push when the group remixed it for the 2022 World Cup.

3. Voices

With Voices, Dario G continued their upward ascent. This time they enlisted Vanessa Contenay-Quinones for the vocals. The added vocal element and growing stature of the group helped the song get placed in the 2000 Leonardo Di Caprio film The Beach.

4. Dream To Me

In 2001, Dario G continued to work with vocalists for their latest productions. This time they worked with Ingfrid Straumstøy for Dream To Me, a rework of the Cranberries hit single Dreams. The track would reach the number 9 spot on the UK Singles chart and the German chart as well.

5. Say What’s On Your Mind

Released later in 2001, Say What’s On Your Mind served as the second single from their sophomore album In Full Colour. The single received remixes from Stonebridge and Almighty Records to help bolster its success.

6. Heaven Is Closer (Feels Like Heaven)

For their 2003 single Heaven Is Closer (Feels Like Heaven), Dario G once again teamed up with vocalist Ingfrid Straumstøyl. The single is a remake of the 1980s hit by Fiction Factory, (Feels Like) Heaven. The track peaked at the 39 spot on the UK Singles chart.

7. Ring Of Fire

Dario G continued to reimagine classic tracks from the past with their 2006 single Ring Of Fire. Borrowing the iconic lead of the Johnny Cash single of the same name, the horn blares out around a fresh production for the times. The single was also accompanied by an island-themed music video where bikini-clad inhabitants discover the game of soccer.
