In 2011, Foster The People rose to the forefront of the music industry with their infectious hit single Pumped Up Kicks. Over a decade later, the duo is building towards the release of their fourth album.

Fans of Foster The People found out in May that the duo, consisting of lead singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Mark Foster and bandmate Isom Innis, would deliver their new album Paradise State of Mind in August of this year. Alongside the album announcement, they delivered their first single of the new era, Lost In Space. With the August 16th album release date less than two months away, the duo are continuing to offer new music to build anticipation and hype. Now the second single from Paradise State of Mind, the infectious, electronic-pop single Take Me Back has been shared with the world.

Opening with a sparkling synth, Mark Foster’s vocals come in right away, delivering a smooth topline that pairs perfectly with the layers of instruments and electronics making up the foundation of the track. Opening with the inviting lyric “Take me closer to the good times,” the groovy bass and bright synths provide warmth throughout. Just as listeners grow comfortable with the groovy foundation, Foster The People up the funk around the minute-and-a-half mark of the track. The thick bass and funky interlude are refreshing and energizing, elevating the feels of the single.

Take Me Back continues to showcase the songwriting and production powers that have made Foster the People global stars. Enjoy the new single below ahead of the August 16th release of Paradise State of Mind.
