MARKUS SCHULZ announces Summer 2024 tourdates

One of the ultimate trance/progressive DJ/producers in the history of electronic dance music, MARKUS SCHULZ has an intuitive ability to constantly reinvent himself while staying true to his artistic essence, at the core. When you consider he’s been a professional performer for three decades — longer than some of today’s upstarts have been on earth — that feat becomes even more impressive.

Over the years, we’ve seen SCHULZ in all forms as a DJ, playing all sorts of sets: high-profile radio appearances (SiriusXM, iHeartRadio’s EDMAwards, KTU-FM Radio New York); festival sets (Insomniac’s Dreamstate, EDC LV, Untold Romania, Transmission Netherlands, Transmission Prague, Luminosity Netherlands, Nature One Germany, Sunrise Poland, Creamfields UK); and headlining club sets (Melkweg Amsterdam, E11EVEN Miami, Avalon Hollywood, Ora Seattle, Soundcheck Washington D.C., Stereo Montreal, Zouk Singapore, Amerika Disco Buenos Aires, Pacha New York). MARKUS SCHULZ is a legend for the marathon DJ sets he dubs “open-to-close,” where he literally spins from the moment the doors open until curfew; those famous open-to-close sets sees SCHULZ as the opener, headliner and afterhours DJs all in one.

To know that he doesn’t take as much as a single bathroom break during those marathons attests to SCHULZ’s top-flight physical, emotional and mental state. We can only imagine that the processing-speed of the organic CPU that is MARKUS SCHULZ’s brain is on overdrive during those performances. Nothing is pre-set in his programming. Like the absolutely best DJs, he is constantly interacting with the audience in an intimate, uplifting and often emotional give-and-take. Performances can be as grueling and exhausting as they are exhilarating. Imagine having to catch a flight-out a mere hours after the last note, only to do it all over again in a new city where fans eagerly await? It’s no wonder MARKUS SCHULZ hits the gym regularly and runs miles on the treadmill every day he can; like MICK JAGGER, a big part of the musical performance is purely physical. You can’t be and stay at the top of your game for decades without also being in peak athletic condition.

In his recent interview with BILLBOARD Argentina, MARKUS SCHULZ spoke about his excitement on returning to play Buenos Aires (that time, with cohort and best mate, FERRY CORSTEN). What’s amazing is that, since his very first break as a DJ and producer in 1993, SCHULZ doesn’t seem to have lost his innate passion for music, the rigors of the music industry notwithstanding. It’s this enduring enthusiasm — a burning fire, even — that fuels the artist’s every action.
